Default auto to 5spd?

ok before anyone says," just buy a diff car" turn around and leave i dont want to hear it lol. i want to make my autobox a 5spd. I'm always looking for a lil extra power, and the sticks have an advantage i cant get over, and i really want a manual trans car, hell i drive the auto like a stick lmao. i have to much time into the car to just sell it and buy a stick xb.

so my question is, has anyone done this? other cars do it all the time so why not us lol. honestly i didnt search yet, but im on here alot and never seen this yet really. i know id need trans, shift link, ecu, pedal. would i need diff motor mounts, and is the clutch hydro or cable? i was gona go to junkyard this weekend but i forgot it vday so that idea is scrapped lol so now i can get some extra info before i go. i plan to take an echo tranny probably cuz their common at the yard but last weekend they were all auto.

anyway, im open to suggestions/ information, but not the haters and if i do this, what is a good clutch to go with, im running i/h/ cat back/ pulley/ and nitrous, so i doubt stock clutch would hold long if ima do it, might as well do it right ya.

seriously lol.

ok mister im only going to highlight the part that makes you look bad, if you read past that youd see i said ive been here a longer time, more posts than you apperantly, and ive never seen a good thread for this. so just to make YOU feel better, i searched, and their isnt S%$t on this subject except for tc's and one rally old thread of people just telling the guy to trade in the car.

so as i said before, if anyone can HELP, then let me know, i hate it when people just resort to answering with "its called a search button" i can understand that if this was another, just bought a box, what pefromance parts are their, but its not is it lol

i have all the technical knowledge id need to do the actual swap, i just need t know some minors like what little parts i might forget, that ill need typical swap stuff.

I have made similar plans for this as a summer project, but time and my wallet will ultimately tell. Never seen this done before either as it is a good bit of work, but I'm sure its well worth it. My parts list I've built so far for most all of the main stuff is as follows: The ECU, Main engine wire harness, clutch start switch, brake pedal assembly, clutch pedal assembly, shift boot, shifter assembly and all linkage, brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder, clutch hoses, clutch slave cylinder, all manual engine mounts, radiator for the manual, flywheel adapter for the crank, flywheel and obviously a clutch.
As far as parts go, I used http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q_U_200..._XB_NCP31.html to cross reference different parts. Manual and auto trans parts are marked accordingly with ATM and MTM. Mounts are slightly different between the two, and the clutch uses plain ole cable linkage. Taking a look at the diagrams will explain it alot better than I can. You should be able to find any and all differences between the two with the supplied link, its got great info! Clutch choice is probably pretty open to interpretation and is personal preference. Like you said though, while I'm at it, I figure it can't hurt to do it right and replace everything at once.

haha sweet thanks real help lol. i wish you the best of luck in your swap. see, stuff like the radiator, why does it need a diff one lol, you could just cap off the auto trans fluid lines and you would be good, and brake master cylinder, is their really a need to change that too? ima find a friend with a man trans and go over that witha fine tooth comb haha. ill hit you up with all the info i get ffrom that btw too. agian thanks for the info man.

Haha no problem man! Always willing to help out, especially with an odd topic like this where theres not much info/people dont take it very seriously. As far as the rad goes, yea, you could just cap it off. Its that simple. Think i might replace mine with a Koyo either way. The master cylinder is a different part number for the manual than the auto though, as the clutch master cylinder taps into it for hydraulic pressure. A manual friend would definitely make this easier haha. But yeah, let me know what you find... any fresh info will go a long way and be much appreciated!

I also am looking to do the swap I have looked at buying a second xb that has been totaled but still drives to use for parts plus you can always pull all the extra goodies. That might be an option. I have seen them priced anywhere from 2000 up.

I looked into that option, but the problem for me is that I have no room to put a 2nd parts car! Other than that though, I think that's def the best way to go. Guess I'll have to get back to hitting the junkyard for parts.

I am running into that problem as well but if you can strip the car in a month or so look into a storage unit that will allow cars to be placed inside, thats what I am doing renting for two months just to be safe.
