View Full Version : My Weapon R Intake Manifold Pics
xa007xa 03-02-2009, 05:58 PM Just got it today. Here are some pics. I'll also post pics from the install. May not be a quick install for me because I'm FI and the intercooler piping might not line up since the flange on the Intake Manifold has been rotated forward a bit.

burstaneurysm 03-02-2009, 07:59 PM It's a nice looking piece when it's polished.
Edzone_xB 03-02-2009, 07:59 PM Looks nice!!!! Are you going to install it on to your xA?
xa007xa 03-02-2009, 10:21 PM should be installed by the weekend. hopefully it won't lean out my tune.
cee_dub2003 03-03-2009, 06:55 AM Awesome pictures...Cant wait to see it on!
aye87 03-04-2009, 10:25 PM how much did you pay?
xa007xa 03-04-2009, 10:48 PM $600 shipped. guys at weapon-r are great. definitely earned a repeat customer here.
Black_Sheep_xB 03-05-2009, 01:24 PM Cool, I got mine a week or so ago.. havn't had time to install it, (Damn Night Shift!!) .. (installing a couple other goodies as well)
I am sure it will be great on a boosted xA.. be mean looking as well

xa007xa 03-08-2009, 01:41 PM okay. this has been installed. modifications were minor, but could have been made easier if weapon-r included documentation listing the things that needed to be modified at the very least. The main mod is the throttle cable bracket. the angled part that the cable sits in needed to be bent so that it could clear the coolant overflow canister and fan. I bent it after installing the TB rather than with a vise on a bench. With my IC piping being very tight, it's a real pain removing and installing the TB and I didnt have the patience to take the bracket off.
Ventilation hose coming off the valve cover barely made it onto the manifold bung. It wouldn't sit comfortably so I used a hose clamp instead of the stock clip. I also had to replace the brake booster hose with a longer one too...
The other modification was even more minor. The oil dipstick no longer bolts onto the head because the bracket on the dipstick hits the plenum. I ran a tap through the stock hole just to make sure it was threaded all the way through. Used a longer bolt so that I could put the dipstick bracket on the back side of the stock hole and slap a nut on to lock the dipstick in place. However, i found that the top of the bracket needs to be filed down at the top. Found out after installed so i never filed it down. And then i realized that getting that nut on would require the hands of infant, so i just zip tied it. Here are pics. I can tell you that the car does not sound any different. And the weather is crappy so i couldnt go WOT. I did dial my boost controller down for safety's sake and did notice that my A/F ratios were leaner even with the lower boost. So, I would say the flow is much better than the OEM manifold.

xa007xa 03-09-2009, 05:08 PM Update: ran a few WOT runs and data logged. The intake manifold didn't really lean out my AFR's. Going to do a more detailed comparison of data logs pre and post install later tonight.
vettereddie 03-09-2009, 05:14 PM Looks nice, I might have to add this to the future mod list, assuming they're still making them in a year. Hopefully there's more space in the xB so maybe I won't have to do quite so many mods to get it to fit. Did they say why they angled the TB mount?
xa007xa 03-09-2009, 05:17 PM the plenum is lower than stock and without shifting it, the TB hit the trans.
xa007xa 03-10-2009, 03:56 AM ok....after reviewing data logs in more detail, it is my conclusion that i am actually running a little richer rather than leaner with the manifold. Don't know what that means!! I'm not complaining because it seems to be getting me closer to my ideal AFR's. One thing I did notice is that boost is available much much sooner when going from easy part throttle to mid part throttle. Everything my tuner told me was that this manifold would lean my tune out because of greater CFM than the OEM manifold.
you also running a larger TB?
xa007xa 03-10-2009, 04:23 AM stock tb
uber-xA-RS2 03-10-2009, 04:35 AM It's great to get some feedback on this manifold with an F/I setup as I am looking into getting it in the not too distant future. :D
xa007xa 03-10-2009, 10:29 PM change in air temp is most likely the cause of my running richer. would still be nice if weapon-r posted cfm of their manifold :-)
swartzautoman 05-13-2009, 05:57 PM about time someone made an Intake Manifold for our little 1nzfe.
ill for sure be adding this to my wish list, my engine bay needs more bling
oh just to let you know, you can get a 60mm TB off a 98 - 02 corolla with the 1.8 for about $40. you just eather have to use longer bolts or mod the TB and make a gasket and it works perfect.
Black_Sheep_xB 05-13-2009, 10:19 PM ^ Really? So, just longer bolts/gasket and go?
AcidDrop 05-13-2009, 10:31 PM looks nice  watching on the corolla TB part...
swartzautoman 05-14-2009, 12:23 AM yes
The 1ZZ-FE engine is Toyota's 1.8L engine that comes in the corolla and matrix from 98 threw 02.
go to a salvage yard and get one and grab the stock TB bolts out of it too so you dont have to mod the TB.
make a gasket out of a piece of sheet aluminum and plug the coolent lines and your good to go.
if you can't get the longer bolts you will just have to remove some of the TB boddy so you can get the nuts back on.
when you fist start the engine the check engine light might come on but it will go away in less then 15 minets of idle
Black_Sheep_xB 05-14-2009, 01:03 AM cool, thanks for the info.. I will have to do this :)
AcidDrop 05-14-2009, 06:33 AM if the CEL doesn't go away do you think adding an anti-fouler will do the trick for it?
swartzautoman 05-14-2009, 12:46 PM im not sure.
here is a thread from someone that did it.
you could ask him about any complications

xa007xa 05-14-2009, 02:22 PM I don't know about doing this with the weapon r mani. the inlet on the mani is about 45mm and there isn't enough meat to port match with the bigger tb without cutting into the iac port. seems like there's no point on a boosted application unless the mani is ported and the iac is modded. interesting though and I might just do it anyways! thanks for the link.
spr0k3t 05-28-2009, 06:03 PM Don't know if you guys have seen this or not...

AcidDrop 05-28-2009, 06:29 PM oh damn that really nice.
swartzautoman 05-28-2009, 07:01 PM WOW
can you say bling!
cee_dub2003 06-09-2009, 05:54 PM The Neo TI treatment one is available!
Ghost05 06-09-2009, 11:50 PM I just wish it wasnt so dang expensive i would buy it myself.
Ghost05 06-09-2009, 11:51 PM Kinda would be nice if there more of these on the market besides weapon R
