Default My Weapon R Intake Manifold Pics

Just got it today. Here are some pics. I'll also post pics from the install. May not be a quick install for me because I'm FI and the intercooler piping might not line up since the flange on the Intake Manifold has been rotated forward a bit.

It's a nice looking piece when it's polished.

okay. this has been installed. modifications were minor, but could have been made easier if weapon-r included documentation listing the things that needed to be modified at the very least. The main mod is the throttle cable bracket. the angled part that the cable sits in needed to be bent so that it could clear the coolant overflow canister and fan. I bent it after installing the TB rather than with a vise on a bench. With my IC piping being very tight, it's a real pain removing and installing the TB and I didnt have the patience to take the bracket off.

Ventilation hose coming off the valve cover barely made it onto the manifold bung. It wouldn't sit comfortably so I used a hose clamp instead of the stock clip. I also had to replace the brake booster hose with a longer one too...

The other modification was even more minor. The oil dipstick no longer bolts onto the head because the bracket on the dipstick hits the plenum. I ran a tap through the stock hole just to make sure it was threaded all the way through. Used a longer bolt so that I could put the dipstick bracket on the back side of the stock hole and slap a nut on to lock the dipstick in place. However, i found that the top of the bracket needs to be filed down at the top. Found out after installed so i never filed it down. And then i realized that getting that nut on would require the hands of infant, so i just zip tied it. Here are pics. I can tell you that the car does not sound any different. And the weather is crappy so i couldnt go WOT. I did dial my boost controller down for safety's sake and did notice that my A/F ratios were leaner even with the lower boost. So, I would say the flow is much better than the OEM manifold.

Update: ran a few WOT runs and data logged. The intake manifold didn't really lean out my AFR's. Going to do a more detailed comparison of data logs pre and post install later tonight.

Looks nice, I might have to add this to the future mod list, assuming they're still making them in a year. Hopefully there's more space in the xB so maybe I won't have to do quite so many mods to get it to fit. Did they say why they angled the TB mount?

the plenum is lower than stock and without shifting it, the TB hit the trans.

ok....after reviewing data logs in more detail, it is my conclusion that i am actually running a little richer rather than leaner with the manifold. Don't know what that means!! I'm not complaining because it seems to be getting me closer to my ideal AFR's. One thing I did notice is that boost is available much much sooner when going from easy part throttle to mid part throttle. Everything my tuner told me was that this manifold would lean my tune out because of greater CFM than the OEM manifold.

It's great to get some feedback on this manifold with an F/I setup as I am looking into getting it in the not too distant future. :D

change in air temp is most likely the cause of my running richer. would still be nice if weapon-r posted cfm of their manifold :-)

about time someone made an Intake Manifold for our little 1nzfe.

ill for sure be adding this to my wish list, my engine bay needs more bling

oh just to let you know, you can get a 60mm TB off a 98 - 02 corolla with the 1.8 for about $40. you just eather have to use longer bolts or mod the TB and make a gasket and it works perfect.

^ Really? So, just longer bolts/gasket and go?
