Default 17's v.s. 18's - which and why?

hi guys and gals, how's everyone doing? i'm looking into getting wheels for my car, either this summer or some other time later on this year. my budget's probably around $1500 (+/-) $200 for the the wheel-tire package. i have a few choices in mind which include Enkei RPF1's (normal silver) and 5zigen FN01RC's (bronze or gloss black w/ chrome lip). i was just curious as to your opinions and 17's v.s. 18's. i understand that these are relatively light wheels in both 17' and 18' forms. most say 17's are better for performance and 18's are better for looks. my car's pretty much a daily driver. please let me know what your opinions are and why. thanks guys.

18s tuck the car nice and fill up that wheel well nice and good. 17s are something you want for performance, or slamming your car so you have less rubbing issues

ditto to that.

it looks like weight/performance is more important since youre considering the RPF1 and FN01RC. so you should go with 17's based on your logic.

i'd get 18s since i dont care how fast my tC is.

i prefer 17s cuz i like performance. 18s are nice but of course u loose some performance. alot of ppl will tell u 18s and i agree it looks nice... but for me personally 17s i like better.... if i was making 300 or more whp then i'd consider 18s. but only if they were badass

i'm assuming that tires are also more expensive for 18's compared to 17's? i'm considering going for the 17's fact that they're lighter. i remember reading somewhere that you shed 20lbs of weight when the car is in motion for every 1lb you shed off your wheels. is this statement true?

Yes, 18" tires will be more expensive than 17", for the same brand & model tire.

The 18" tires will also weigh more, further decreasing performance. That weight will also be situated further from the hub, effectively amplifying the decrease in performance.

Shedding unsprung weight does effectively result in more weight savings than weight removed elsewhere, but that ratio is way too high, in reality it's more like 4:1, not 20:1.
