Default Alarm LED question

Just curious, I have some of the pre-wired superflux 4 chip LED's, and i was wondering if i could unhook the LED for my alarm and put one of these in it's place? i don't know much about alarms, is there a resistor on the LED, or is built into the alarm? So if i wired on one of mine, that has a resistor wired in already, would it work, or be super dim? Any input would be appreciated. thanks.

The problem there is, the LED wiring required is heavily dependent on the alarm system you have. One alarm may be full on 12V (14.01V unregulated), while another may only use 3.323V. Generally, if your alarm uses a single LED indicator, it could very well be 3.3V. The easiest way to determine the voltage you need without destroying your setup: Voltmeter.

Thanks for the info. I'll get a voltmeter.
