Default Cigarette Lighter Power always On?

I just got a 2006 xB and I love it so far. One thing that is really bugging me is that the power to the cigarette lighter is always on regardless of whether the car is turned on or not.

I haven't looked too deeply into this, but I figured I'd ask here first if there's a quick answer. Is there a way to re-wire this so the power is shut off when the car is off?

Thanks in advance

I would like for that to happen in my xA. But it doesn't get power until I turn the key. I had an old daily driver car a few years ago that the power would stay on when the key is turned off. I liked that, I could have something going while I turn the car off, and then it come back on.

I would have that checked out. I also have an 06 xB and the power on my cig lighter goes off with the key. If you bought it used, maybe the last owner rewired it to stay powered without the key.

There should be NO power when the key is cycled to the "off" position. You need to get that checked out soon!
