Cool story about a Scion ower.....
Just thought I'd share a little story about another Scion owner.
I live in Chicago and one of the most scenic roads to drive on is Lake Shore Drive. For those not familiar, LSD is a scenic drive from the far southside of the city all way up to the far northside along the shore of Lake Michigan (which if you've never been to the Great Lakes, its oceanic in size up close).
Anyway, so I leave work late at night and nothing is more beautiful than driving down LSD through downtown and seeing everything all lit up.
Along comes some red car flying past me and it turns out to be an Absolutely Red RS1 tC.
So I sped up to see what all he had done to it. All he had was the OEM lip kit and the pedastal spoiler, but he had tinted the rear windows.
So I pulled up next to him and gave the driver a nod and he smiled and he nodded back. He slowed down about 15 miles an hour and the two of us took up two of the four lanes and had a little mini-cruise together till I had to exit and head home.
At first I think he thought it was some other brand of car since I have a 6000k HID low beam kit and a 3000k yellow OEM fog kit installed, so he likely didn't recognize it as a tC in his rearview, because he kept trying to pull away from me and we were already doing 65mph (LSD speed is 45).
Though it was kinda cool, that when he recognized a fellow Scion owner (I have a Blue Ribbon Metallic tC with seemingly the entire catalog of OEM dealer installed options), he just kicked back enjoyed the little cruise up the most fun stretch of road in the city.
It shows that Scion owners really are a different breed of owner than others in our engine size/car class. I didn't see any badging or decals to indicate if he belonged to any of the local owners clubs.
By the way, if the driver of that RS1 (heading north on LSD around (9:45pm CST), feel free to post here, but I thought it was a nice little feel-good story to share with the rest of the scion community.

Get a room.........no just kidding.
Yeah it is pretty cool to meet up at a store or light or something and go hey,met a lot of cool people that way,Scions are indeed a differant type of car and owner that is for sure.

the scion owners here in my area have too big of an ego, and they all have to try to fight to be on top. they keep harassing me by reving it, or lining up for a roll when i'm just cruising. i hate it. thats why i stay away from the people in my town and try making friends somewhere else.
Every Scion I see tries to race me cause my car doesnt look stock.
It gets annoying after a while, specially today, there was a HORRIBLY done "widebody" tC with those ebay spider tails and a ridiculously loud system that tried to race, like really dont you see the red light ahead?

I never have problems with other scions I usually give a nod and get one back. Only tC that has tried to race me was a chick in a azure pearl. I just have the countless hondas that try to race me. People that have scion generally respect other with them around my area.
My mileage varies in this topic. Sometimes I get nods from other Scion owners, sometimes nothing; and sometimes I get the Fast and Furious wannabes and sometimes not even a whimper from the engine. Not to take anything away from the OP's story, but I honestly don't think it has anything to do with Scion drivers, persay, but just classy people in general.
Unfortunately it seems that most people around my area (northeast Birmingham) get "the big head" when they sport up/externally-mod their rides. Instantly they become too cool to associate with stock drivers. So waves and nods go unaccepted more so than unnoticed. Silly people - maybe it's just me, but I'd rather be "kicka§§" outside my car than in. lol

Agree with you on that statement. Theres a few guys around here that think they top dog, Fly around revving there engines when they see you. Then theres a few that speak, say whats up and keep on moving, Its not the car its the owners. I own a honda too and its the same thing.

The most I've ever gotten from a Scion owner was a quick high beam flash.
& then when I'm cruisin in the tC people look at me like O_O wtf is that? I don't think people realize it's a tC. But, the xB...I get nothin', but then again, I'm stock in the xB department. =X There's only room for one modded scion in my world, lol.

I don't normally get nods or waves or any sort of recognition though... most scion owners just know they have a vehicle that gets them from A to B, they don't feel the same way we do haha
When i'm outside of my house waxing the car or cleaning, whatever I have had quite a few scions drive by. Never once had a tc owner give me the nod or a wave, but have had two xb owners (1st gen) wave. I've actually had more recognition as a "tuner" by like mazda 3's and Civics in front of my house.
It pains me to have a civic owner nod at me and a tC drive by and not even look in my direction.

LSD
Im surprised you guys didnt get a ticket..the cops on lake shore have nothing better to do. I use to take LSD to Irving Park where I went to school and everyday I would see either a car pulled over by the cops or cops chasing a car.
Any who I have a pretty nice story to share. I was taking I-55 towards Joliet and I saw this pretty clean green xB..probably one of the limited edition ones, not sure which one but yea I pulled up to him and gave him a wave. After that he tagged along for a little because I-55 is basically just a straight away..but then out of no where I saw a slammed silver tC. Gave him a wave and he tagged along with us, so it was like a miniature meet and cruise..lol so the entire time I kept thinking of Scion United
weird I never thought this would happen, especially with random people but it did.

I can totally see that image you painted about the comparison between Scion United and I-55. Mostly because 55 is really an elevated highway so all the on-ramps come from below so its like *poof* another Scion appears!
I've actually had quite a few of these 'random cruises', but usually on longer trips like when I visit my family across state lines in Indiana or Ohio. You know, like those cars/drivers who just happen to be going approximately the same speed as you, both of you have your cruise control on and you usually only pass each other if for some reason traffic gets wonky.
Still, it was really refreshing to have it happen in such a short time frame.
And to the guy who mentioned waxing his car and the people who see him, I've gotten a couple nods from just random people, usually guys, who just give the respect to the all-American act of waxing and polishing a car.
I usually get recognition from fellow modded Scion owners.
No, I'm not considering some crappy rims & window tinting "modding".
Generally the ones who care about their ride enough to extensively mod it will care about other's rides and will give you a nod or a wave or some sort of recognition.
Well, at least the ones who aren't idiots and drive their Scions agsressively, but not stupid will, anyway.
That's what I've noticed at least.
