homerhitta 05-09-2009, 02:20 PM seriously wtf stage 5 should be able to handle a LOT more power than what you're making right now.
coryjames 05-09-2009, 03:59 PM i know i am pretty sure it was the bearing i started squeeking and sounding like a midget hitting things with a hammer in the trannie the prongs got toasted the clutch looks fine its the pressure plate
TheCCBox 05-10-2009, 07:22 PM WTF would you want to put a stage 5 clutch in a street car???
Did you go easy on it for the first 500 miles or were beating the crap out of it from day 1?
coryjames 05-11-2009, 04:29 PM WTF would you want to put a stage 5 clutch in a street car???
idk why people are like oh my god stage 5 its not that hard its almost like a stock clutch with some chatter
and yes it got broke in properly
to a spun flywheel
so who knows
Ace83 05-11-2009, 04:49 PM yeah man call em, 1000K on a clutch is crazy.. or maybe you are now like around 2000hp :P
coryjames 05-11-2009, 06:15 PM i called clutch masters still waiting to hear back from them
BFDBOX 05-14-2009, 10:21 PM i killed my stage 5 after 1000 miles and i month i got it out yesterday i handled it i will be calling clutch masters today say wtf stage 5 my but lol
did you take the time to break it in for a 1000 miles. Your not supposed to smash on it at all. You have to drive a lot of city miles and baby it.
Zsanz 05-14-2009, 10:29 PM either way...1000 miles?
still seems low
XD40tC 05-15-2009, 12:01 AM Lame.
coryjames 05-15-2009, 01:52 AM Its 500 miles and yes it was broke in
Steve60 05-15-2009, 02:23 PM Was it the TO bearing that failed?
Sciond 05-30-2009, 01:36 AM you want bullet proof..here is the answer he did all my cars I raced with
http://www.levelten.com/
coryjames 06-02-2009, 02:13 AM pictures in the first post look at that carnage lol what a joke
crush02342002 06-02-2009, 02:22 AM looks like the splines on the clutch are gone....its an unsprung clutch huh?....iv heard of this happening with unsprung before.
crush02342002 06-02-2009, 02:24 AM did it hurt the input shaft bad...looks like it deff got abused but is it bad?
madmarx 06-02-2009, 03:30 AM What clutch do you plan to use this time?
coryjames 06-02-2009, 01:41 PM the input shaft was bad i replaced it as for what clutch now i think ima go stage 7 and i better get a good deal on it from clutch masters
Steve60 06-02-2009, 02:53 PM The $64 question is, which failed first? And why?
coryjames 06-02-2009, 02:59 PM the throw out bearing is fine and the clutch did the shaft was still usable but why chance it?
Steve60 06-02-2009, 04:27 PM the throw out bearing is fine and the clutch did the shaft was still usable but why chance it?
That's a big FAIL
There are 2 scenarios - 1 the disk was a little on the big, 2 the main shaft was weak - either way = sucks
I haven't had a CM ever do what happened to you...... however I have blown up a Quartermaster ( running too big a tire ), it did explode, dented the scatter shield, a Tilton, got too hot & broke the center of the disk out. Had a T10 front main shaft destroyed and never figured out why ( my theory was the disk was out of whack by just enough ) .
Big HP eventually leads to some kind of failure - even if your Austin Coil
Hope you get this sorted.
coryjames 06-02-2009, 04:38 PM clutch masters said they will not warranty it what a joke they said it sounds like poor install i said sounds like you guys are getting some flamming on the boards every one needs to know how shady this is sounds like they want the bad rep for poor service he even called me a scammer and all that what crap

Poor install? How can you do that? Put the disk in backwards ok, but the center hits the pilot & won't work, not for 500 miles, not for 10 miles. I've seen triples, even some doubles screwed but a single can only go in 1 way.
What kind of fly wheel?
I don't think you're alone here.
Ace83 06-02-2009, 08:41 PM that sucks.. how could they blame it on poor install? it will never run fine if it was poor install.. this thing just failed when its not supposed to
coryjames 06-02-2009, 09:07 PM Stock fly and sucks i am back to stock clutch it will only hold 3.6 pounds
crush02342002 06-02-2009, 09:12 PM Stock fly and sucks i am back to stock clutch it will only hold 3.6 pounds
  ...sorry its funny though...it was an unsprung right?
coryjames 06-02-2009, 11:22 PM yes unsprung talked with geoff at nurspec he has been a great help
Ace83 06-02-2009, 11:25 PM they are known not to last long but im sure it shouldnt fail this way
crush02342002 06-02-2009, 11:37 PM iv heard of it before but i cant find the thread...fail...oh well
Steve60 06-02-2009, 11:59 PM I would not recommend an unsprung disk for street use, but I have used them in my own cars for many years. That said my gen1 blower car has a sprung disk, my wife drives it.
coryjames 06-03-2009, 12:13 AM im used to the clutch its not that my vw bug had a 9000 pound kenedy iron clutch no springs just plate lol it took the abuse of 7000rpm launches no problem this one failed on street tires before i even got to have fun with it this is just sad
crush02342002 06-03-2009, 12:15 AM on street tires at that....wtf dude....i dont get it
