A friend of mine now runs a custom sticker printing/embroidering/engraving shop at a local mall here. Recently, he found the same 3M material that Clear Gaurd
http://www.clear-guard.com/ uses to make their 'sticker bras'.
He'll be offering clear-gaurd type kits for much less in the near future.
Any interest?

there's a lot of interest in these for the xB's since they get chipped a lot. Does your friend have plans for the xB too?

These kits are mainly for the stock bumpers and such. Is this correct?

I'm looking to get some clearguard that I can apply to my body kit and hood.
I guess I'd have to get it in rolls and apply it myself though...let us know what info you get.

I had clear paint protection film (Avery product) installed a month ago. Looks great on a TCM...meaning it's practically invisible. Even though I know where it's installed, I have trouble even spotting when the guard ends and the paint begins.
Well worth the $400 to protect the bumper, fenders, hood and side mirrors from chips and rocks.
Call around to your local tint shops and many will be able to do the job for much cheaper than an advertised protection installer. At least that was my case. I called a few guys that advertised installing the stuff and got quotes of $600+.
All I had to do was decide what film to use. There's an excellent tinter forum, just Google for it and you'll have all the info and opinions you can stand.

He should. I spoke with him today, and he's in the process of getting a vectored body panel map CD... I don't totally understand the concept, but apparently, it would make printing 3M vinyl the exact size and shape of any body panel easy.

That's not a bad option.
However, the Panel Gaurds he'll be making will be basically large decals--only transparent, and thicker than normal.
I haven't gotten an exact price from him yet, but they will be similar to and less expensive than the kits available on Clear-Guard.com:

as long as it lines up with the body lines and ends at an appropriate point, then its perfect. Should be a nice little income for him. I need to find something like that so I can afford to modify my car.

Heh. I know the feeling... I may go back to my freelance Install/Detail side job just to buy some parts...
