Smile Hello from a thrilled new xD owner!!! (RS 2.0)

Previous 98 VW New Beetle TDI owner checking in... former Corolla and Celica owner before that. Happy to be back in the "family."

I was shopping for Honda Fits and Civics when Consumer Reports led me to Scion. I hit up the lot on Tuesday of last week and brought it home Thursday, completely unexpectedly! I decided it was the car for me, and didn't get wrapped up in the details or the color... but "OH WAIT, we have this green one that we JUST got the other day. Still in plastic, hasn't been tested yet."

And I was totally smitten. This car is amazing. The crazy details, the GPS, the stereo, the direct iPod interface, the color, the interior size and flexibility, the pep, the built in bluetooth, the great price... I love everything about it. The car was made for me.

Here it is! (Though it looks no different than all the other ones you've all probably seen.)

Thanks for letting me share since you all probably know exactly where I'm coming from!

Welcome! My previous car was a Golf TDI. These xD's don't have quite the fuel economy or the ride quality of a TDI, but they shouldn't have all the problems, either!

Thanks for the welcome!

The dealer was RAVING about the wonderful gas mileage of these cars and I had to stop him in his tracks... nothing was going to seem as good as the 47mpg I was getting with my 11 year old TDI. But this seems like it will come as close as possible, in my price range. And I cannot begin to share how thrilled I am to have a car with no problems! That is priceless to me.

And the stereo is flippin' amazing. I'm not sure what's different about it than a standard xD? But it's a Pioneer and it's GPS/radio/CD player/phone all in one. The iPod jack in the glove box keeps everything SO clean... and the fact that my iPod shows up on the screen, complete with album artwork, etc. is stunning. It even can play videos (provided the car is stopped and the parking brake is engaged. Hehe.) The sound is great - but I'm not knowledgeable on that. Anything sounds phenomenal relative to what I had. And the fact that I downloaded all of my contacts from my Blackberry into my CAR blows my mind.

My first purchase, however, will be an arm rest.

Default Green Machine Gang

Hey, congrats on the Wasabi XD, just got my on little Green Machine today!
I agree with you on every point too. love the color and cool extras. have been playing with all the bells and whistles all day, had to bring my IPod to the dealer when I picked the car up and had it jamming all the way home!
My 11 year old wants me to take good care of it so he can one day inherit it from me. (Ha! He's getting a POS as his first car, just like I did!)

Hello from a thrilled new xD owner!!! (RS 2.0)-wasabi1.jpg

All hail the Green Machine Gang!

Woohoo! Congrats Mike! It's embarrassing... I think I sat in my driveway in the pouring rain for an hour playing with everything the night that I brought it home. My neighbors thought I was nuts.

And I definitely think having a POS first car REALLY makes you appreciate your first brand new car when you're 32. (Ahem... )

What number in the series is yours? I think mine's 778.

Congrats on the new rides, glad you are happy with them. I know I love my RS 1.

Need to start an RS 2.0 thread with list of owners and numbers.

Yes! I went looking for one when I saw an RS 1.0 list...

I just found this pic on my phone, and while it's not Scion specific, it still rocks.

It had 5 miles on it when I test drove it and I put the rest on during the test drive. They had to strip all the white plastic off it for me to drive it...Amazing. I still can't believe it's mine!

Yep! You have been bitten by the bug! Welcome to the family! I wish I had an RS, but I still love my 'sled' anyway. If being locked out of DVD's and some Nav functions bugs you, there is a fix that I and a few others have done that mounts the VSS wire to a switch and grounds the E-brake wire to the head unit so you can access menus and watch DVD's while you drive. For the passengers of course!

BTW: Which armrest did you get? I'm thinking about getting the OEM Ist armrest as soon as I can gather the cash.

I waffled between the Ist and the Zeta for a couple days and ended up going with the Zeta. I *think* it's the better one for what I'm going for, and I'm not as concerned about an exact OEM-looking match. Hopefully it will be the right decision! I'll be sure to post afterward as I think I read every opinion on here about all of them.

Would you take pics of it when you've installed it?

My number is 1305.

And my Wife and I both sat in the driveway, messing around with all the buttons and features the first night too. First thing I had to do was turn down the volume of the voice on the GPS feature..she was loud!

Did your Dealer mention anything about the Free 3 month XM Radio offer? It's supposedly something new Scion owners get but my dealer never said anything to me, but he was new and had to "keep Checking" on things whenever i asked him a question.

Oh absolutely. I have every intention of doing so. Just waiting for it to arrive...

It really does look great in person. Funny how it just doesn't translate in photos. Thanks!!!

Should I post these as a separate thread for future searches? As requested, here's my Zeta armrest.

And my other goody, the cargo mat.

Wait is that an ash tray in the back? Also mind taking pics of it open (the 'ash tray' and the top)? Sorry if I'm asking too much

No no no... It's not an ash tray. It's a cup holder! Not the strongest, beefiest cup holder, but it's a cup holder. I'll take a pic of it open for you later...
