OK I just got back from GA and I heard like a rock in the hub cap.
Took it off no rock then checked the brakes, not them.

The wheel bearing was shot. Right rear with 49,930 miles. In the shop now.

Hub and brp 42290 $360.25 with labor $464.75. With rental $560.40
They wanted to do the Rear brakes for only $329.00.

OMG that's crazy.

I just saw this as an issue on the xB1 forum. That thread is over a year old.

Seems like lots of xB1's are having the rear wheel bearing go bad and they use the same wheel bearing hub on the xB2.

Something to watch for!!!

I have had both front wheel bearings go out under 28k miles LOL!!!

 

they are not the same hubs,,, not even close.....

I doubt it. Most the parts on our cars are like the Camry.
The old xB was like a Echo. Tiny everything.

Must be an error... is there a microfiche on-line anywhere for the xB2.

xB2 is large 5 lug. xB1, xA and Echo are small 4 lug.

well now at 60,000 and need a front wheel bearing. its funny even if you tell them left front wheel bearing is bad they charge $95.00 to come back and tell you the same thing .

 

Again... I hate greedy people...

 

rear wheel bearings replace at my request by dealer covered by powertrain warrnaty for 0.00$$ at less than 50K!

 

uggg I just noticed this a couple of days ago drove around a bit and heard it more going at a slower speed than a higher speed....but I am not even @ 5k yet thinking about having them check it at my 5K service....but think they could go this quick?

How did you get this covered under warranty? My buddy who works at a toyota dealership said it will only cover till 35k. Mine just broke last week and I'm at 45k.

 

60K powertrain warranty is what My guys told me and that it was covered!! so I said ok Fix it then!

 

Wow, guess Im glad I purchased that 7yr/100k bumper to bumper warranty from them...lol

 

Ok here is the deal looks as though the fronts are 60k and the backs are 35k

 

Buddy of mine quoted me $314 for rear hub assembly from Toyota does anyone recomend an after market one at a much cheaper price but yet reliable?

 

I go to the doctors with an ear infection, They still charge to tell me I need antibiotics. Wheel bearing can be tricky to figure out which one it is.
Naive seen many you would swear it was the front but in fact it was the rear.

So if you came in and said my left front bearing is bad and I replace it and the noise is still there. You would say what?

I know what you would say. Didn't you check it before you replaced it??

Been there. Done that.
