i am wondering if anyone has modified the xB foglights to make them have a greater light output.

as far as i can tell and have read, the foglights do not have a reflective housing, i have heard the JDM bB housings are reflective and they have greater light output than our USDM ones.

I am thinking about popping my foglights and taking the lens off and covering the inside with something that will reflect the crap out of the light and make them bright as ish.

im thinking about either painting them with the chrome paint you can buy in walmart or covering the inside of the housing with tinfoil.

let me know what you think, have you heard of someone doing this before, do you think its a good idea?

Don't paint them. Instead you should pull them apart and take them to have them professionally polished (unless you want to polish them yourself). The aluminum will polish up VERY good. The difference in light output just isn't there though... what you will get is a much brighter appearance when the foglights are off. The reason for this, the majority of the foglight does not have a parabolic lens... If you want to increase the intensity of the light output, you should go with a 35W HID kit instead.

The JDM fogs are indeed nice... if they are real JDM, and not the USDM knock-offs. They are just a smidge bit brighter and they look better on the b.

Here's a shot of mine with the housing polished.

Don't paint... don't cover... polish.

Another thing you can do is modify a 9005 bulb for the 9006 socket. Takes about 5 minutes with a dremel and the difference in output is not subtle.

Here's another shot of my b with the polished fogs. I never knew my box was on the midwest site... threw me for a loop, that's for sure.

I'll try to do a comparison of 9006 to 9005 bulbs at some point, also.

awesome, i didnt know the housings could be polished...and spr0k3t, i am running HID's in the headlights and foglights, just was looking for a bit more light output.

i do like the look of the polished housings though, it looks nice.

Did you polish them yourself, or did you have someone do it for you?
I'm personally still trying to find small circular foglights to put in the lower grille (like the fog setup on the tC and xB2) since I run projectors, I'd prefer circular to the OEM style.

Did the polishing myself by hand. No power tools used. Just wanted to prove it could be done. I've got a thread about it somewhere.
