i recently got a used oem lip kit but i see there are tabs that would go into the bumpers. Do i have to cut into the bumper in order to install the kit or is there another way. oh yeah i searched already but am still looking for a clear answer

I THINK im not completely sure though but i hear if you install the oem lip kit the bumper has to be cut

Technically I think you can trim those taps off but I saw someone on here say they could never get it too fit tight against the bumper without them

The OEM lip has tabs that go through the bumper.. Yes you should have the dealership install it for a proper fitment.. Only install it, if your planning on keeping it, or having another kit that covers the holes, down the line...

I wouldnt suggest trying to install it yourself, especially with out a template to know where to cut your holes... Dont use stupid-glue.. They have proper 3M tape at the dealership, which is used with the tabs to keep the lip on securely..

who said you need dealership to have it properly fit? and why not install it yourself? you save money. there is a template on back of the bumper itself that says "CUT HERE" but yeah i think MicE used double sided tape to get his on but i wouldnt suggest it. HKS even said in another post that in due time the adhesive will come off

I can just imagine what would happen if some "unprofessional" person went hacking away at their bumper.. I also didnt know that the template was on the bumper... I took the kit off of my old tC and sold it, so I saw the holes that were left.. I know I wouldnt try cutting them myself.. one slip, and new bumper... lol..

its not hard theres dotted lines. i did mine with a friend and it fitted perfectly. just take your time. if you wanna waste cash on hiring a "professional" then do it. but to the OP, hit me up i'll help you out

And dont take it out of context.. The dealership is better than gung ho and chainsaws... But yes, if your a smart individual that feels confident in DIY installs, go for it...

You learn by doing, sure he can mess up that is all part of the fun of working on cars. Taking your car to the dealer to get something put on when you have the ability to do if for yourself is stupid. It is seriously like 8 cuts in the bumper, it is not that hard. If he has the proper tools it will be a piece of cake and unitXero said he would help.

yea...i put it on without the tabs and it was a bad idea...i had a fake oem bumper and it didnt have the template so i just put it on...use the tabs its better

beheind the front bumper there are guides (circled slits) were you cut the holes out of and insert the tabs.. u need a dremel to do it quickly.. make sure u also have the oem tabs... the rear is the same way.. cut holes and mount.. its not rocket science... take about an hour to do.

its very simple... u can DIY.. ive installed about 10 of these already by now on different cars.. its 6 slits in the front and 7 or 8 in the rear...

i used a dremel to cut the holes from the back of the bumper. you can start by cutting small holes and widen them if you need to.

the double sided tape method requires you to remove th tabs on the kit. so if you end up hating how the tape fits or sticks, then you're sh!t out of luck.
