Default Scanguage 2: Why would my TPS read 11 at idle?

I never see my TPS go below 11. If I take my foot off the gas it goes to 11, when I press the gas it goes up. It doesn't sound like the engine is racing.

In my Miata the TPS will read 0 when my foot is not on the gas.

I did check the throttle cable and there is some slack in it so I know that is not causing the TPS to be 11.

Is this normal or do I need to adjust my TPS or is it not adjustable?

^^^what he said. there needs to be some sort of flow through the throttle body in order to keep the motor running. i think on the miata (cable throttle) it reads how much the cable is being pulled

My SG reads 11 TPS on my xB at idle. My SE-R reads 1 TPS at idle, and my wife's Hyundai Elantra reads 4 TPS at idle. Different cars idle at different TPS settings. 11 is normal for our xBs.

wouldn't this depend entirely on what the manufacturer decided to designate at the closed throttle position for their ECUs? just a theory, but say when your foot is completely off the gas, one car maker says the TPS is 0, whereas one car maker says the tps is at 1 or 4 or 11, just depends at what increment they start counting and continue counting up to? or is it completely standardized across the industry?

11 to 78, yep.

Too bad it can't be adjusted.

My HP setting read 132hp at the redline in 2nd gear.
I know that's not right, but it looked cool.
