View Full Version : injen catback sound clips? or reviews i need to know aarontrini85 02-07-2005, 09:29 PM does any one have some besides the db test on injens site my local shop has one coming in for me but im not sure i want it unless i can here what it sounds like injen doesnt give mutch with the clip they have BoxDude 02-07-2005, 10:20 PM I also want to hear this since the Injen would probably be my first choice of exhausts. From the dB test, it sounds like it has that deep droning rumble that I like, not ricey like the TRD and a few others. If anyone knows a link to this please post! aarontrini85 02-07-2005, 10:49 PM or even if you guys could post reviews becouse this is going to be here on friday so i need to know if i should get it trown on or not aarontrini85 02-08-2005, 06:16 PM i only have 3 days to decide on this can some one with this please help me out? RoryC 02-08-2005, 06:51 PM i have the injen catback, and I love it. Sounds nice and throaty, and has decent gains by it self. acasanova 02-08-2005, 06:53 PM i only have 3 days to decide on this can some one with this please help me out? Man i have no means of showing you how it sounds i have a crappy ___ PC with no audio capture programs. I can tell you that it sounds great, very deep almost silent when idleling. Deeper than TRD and better flowing got me 4hp 5tq not much but something. I believe its the best axleback on the market i have not heard or tested borla but i would also look into them. The Injen unit is very well built stainless steel 3in mendrel bent looks very nice from the back and the side. There are however fitment issues mine scrapes my bumper. This can be easily fixed by bending the flange slowly with a hammer or a heavy set of pliers. PTUNING.COM has them for 324.00 free shipping. :D  aarontrini85 02-08-2005, 07:17 PM ok thanks i guess ill take it then it sounds like its good it looked like it would have have a very ricey sound but if some one can post a sound clip that would be greatly apreciated duston831 02-08-2005, 07:19 PM i have the injen catback, and I love it. Sounds nice and throaty, and has decent gains by it self. i though they only had an axle back? aarontrini85 02-08-2005, 07:39 PM they call it a catback but it is an axle back if you look on there site it is called a catback (located at axle) v0lc0m85 02-08-2005, 08:00 PM i have a sound clip of mine on my car domain page. it was from b4 i installed my headers its_ikon 02-08-2005, 08:08 PM they call it a catback but it is an axle back if you look on there site it is called a catback (located at axle) i noticed that on their site. that is lame. it is an axle back though aarontrini85 02-08-2005, 08:57 PM ok i heared your clip its not bad not relay the sound i was looking for but i think i might go with it since it are there any dynos for it? acasanova did you dyno it or are thoughs just #'s you think it made? acasanova 02-08-2005, 09:41 PM ok i heared your clip its not bad not relay the sound i was looking for but i think i might go with it since it are there any dynos for it? acasanova did you dyno it or are thoughs just #'s you think it made? Yes i did Dyno my car with the Injen SES, i drive a 4sp auto so the numbers are roughly 11hp and 12 tq les than a 5 sp (numbers vary from dyno to dyno: humidity, temperature, air density, friction ,calibration ,age of machine, all are factors). Most Dynos compensate for the first 3 variables, my numbers are from a Dynojet in relatively new condition . A 4sp is suppose to dyno about 128 hp at the wheels and 129 tq its about 19% drivetrain loss which is very good for an auto. My dyno results are here on this forum under NEW NUMBERS. Here is a link of my best run 3 pulls almost 84 Degrees outside 80 at the dynojet. http://home.comcast.net/~miamiprep1/Save0003.JPG That is just with the Injen SES exhaust and a K&N drop in, by the way the stock filter performs just as well. I have however noticed better gas milage with the K&N. http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=45616 aarontrini85 02-09-2005, 12:00 AM ill be getting it then its the only one i know of with proven gains i wish precision would have posted there dynos but i guess its to late now im sold on this one Fish 02-09-2005, 12:17 AM dang I thought the injen was a catback......so are there no catbacks out for our car yet? Everytime I see a post about the new CATBACK out it turns out to be axleback. Does anyone know of a catback out for the tC yet? aarontrini85 02-09-2005, 12:23 AM the will probly all be axle backs since there is a cat on that pipe its cheaper for these companys to just go where toyota ends the pipe and just go from there they probly figure it is easier to do that rather then rebend every thing after the second cat if they remove it then there not legal any more acasanova 02-09-2005, 12:24 AM Magnaflow will release a true Catback in a month or two just wait it out if you want a catback. As for me im very happy with the Injen SES i know i will be getting a new custom made 3 inch stainless midpipe reaching to the second cat or maybe removing it. Will probably do a custom 3 inch S pipe as well. I got an extended warranty at Scion so i dont know about headers. acasanova 02-09-2005, 12:26 AM I will post some new Dynos when i Buy the Weapon R damper kit and the TRD intake if it ever comes out. Hopefully they will have a short ram as well. aarontrini85 02-09-2005, 12:49 AM there isnt a plan for a trd intake is there there is only the aem at leaset as far as i know but the gains from the injen have me sold thank you so much for posting the dyno's post more if you ever get that pipe made? also how much is it costing you to get the car dynod if you dont mind me asking i want to get it done before i start adding every thing to my car acasanova 02-09-2005, 01:03 AM there isnt a plan for a trd intake is there there is only the aem at leaset as far as i know but the gains from the injen have me sold thank you so much for posting the dyno's post more if you ever get that pipe made? also how much is it costing you to get the car dynod if you dont mind me asking i want to get it done before i start adding every thing to my car By TRD i meant the AEM CAI that was going to be sold by toyota, the one with all the carb issues that has been delayed for eternity. Well the Dynos cost me $70 here in Miami for 3 pulls, i do have a few free pulls next time i go. The Injen flows very well minimum bends great design straight through. If you go to a shop and get a custom made stainless 3 inch midpipe to the first or second cat your set. You have a 5sp so you should be able to put 145hp and 150 tq at the wheels with out the injen . So the best of luck to you. aarontrini85 02-09-2005, 01:17 AM ok thanks im shooting for at least 200 hp with a k&n intake a injen exhaust and a 75hp wet shot of nitrous i dont think it will be a problem to do but i think getting some base line #'s would be good just so i could compair and feel good about the ____ load of ca$h i just spent acasanova 02-09-2005, 01:36 AM Oh yeah if you arnt getting a CAI get a K&N or a TRD drop in to increase airflow once the Injen is installed. danman04x 02-09-2005, 02:18 AM i kinda feel like an idiot but wuts the difference between cat back and axle back? I also want to put an exhaust on my car but dont know which to put, borla just came out with a axle back for the tc KAOS29 02-09-2005, 03:06 AM http://www.injen.com/new_layout/testing/db_test/scion_tc_dbtest.AVI here is the link for the sound for Injen Cat-Back (Located at axle), hope that help.. it sounds okay... iam not sure about the sound quality.. so iam still undecided jwaggz82 02-10-2005, 03:02 AM my dealer said that borla has a cat back out already (but i didnt think so) ....is this true? He said it was around $700...which sounds right...but i didnt think there was one out. danman04x 02-10-2005, 12:36 PM if you go on the borla website you will see it heres the link: http://borla.com/applications/lookup.aspx/2005/Scion/tC/Rear_Section/11743/ jwaggz82 02-11-2005, 03:48 AM jeze - i didnt think they came out. That price doesnt seem right though. $550 for the catback and headers???? aarontrini85 02-11-2005, 07:53 AM ^ where it says catback and headers that is the catogory it is listed under thats not what your getting its just the axle back or atleast thats what i think it is jwaggz82 02-11-2005, 08:12 AM thats what i thought. SO, they arent out yet. ...i think. Whats the best cat-back i can get for my tc? |
