I figure it will save having to take a intercooler to a powdercoaters since i want it black. So far I have heard good things about other mishimoto products. Im gonna run 10psi so it should be good since it is up to 22psi. Good size for the tC comparable in size to dezods intercooler.

 

2.5" eww man get atleast a 3" thick.

 

^im sure 2.5 is fine for his power goals, unless of coarse hes planning on building motor and upping boost in the future, lol

also, i know powdercoating intercoolers is a no no, it hurts the cooling effect. U have to get it anodized for it to work right, and have it the color you want!

im shopping around for an intercooler as well!

i just painted the piping and couplings that attatch to the intercooler flat black. then put a mesh black grille in my bumber because the original grille would not fit. looks good enough, cant really see the intercooler too well...

although that one is sick. i might get that.

 

unit_xero is running a mishimoto intercooler with his custom greddy kit at 7psi i believe and hasn't had any problems what so ever, you will be fine and it won't be noticeable that you have a fmic.

 

yeah man im running a mishimoto intercoler adn its greats fits really nice on the tc too,

u can also get it in black so u dont have to powercoat it, comes from factory so thats good..

 

IC should be anodized not powder coated, its a heat exchanger and powder coating can slow down heat transfer

Ok since powdercoating is bad for cooling I think I will just get the silver one. I think the black would be cool but ima leave my bottom VRD grill in anyways. I found one for 132 with free shipping online somewhere else. So I am sure this will work fine for cooling purposes since I am not going over 10 psi. I plan on getting rid of the tc when i pay it off. i just wanna have fun with it while i have it. So no crazy turbo build or built motor.

 

or you could get the silver one and just have it anodized like in front lol... im not even sure if its possible

 

Well I know anodizing is expensive. But doing some research online the powdercoating wont even effect it. Because it wont ever get hot enough to the point where it would inhibit the operation since it is constantly taking in air across it.

 

how much is powder coating? anodizing i think runs between 80-100. i dont know but maybe a thin powder coating might work but it seems like the coating material is like an insulator slowing heat exchanging.. but a good way to really test it is monitoring charge temps on same setup with a powder coated and another with anodized IC

 

Yea thats true. Well we will see which one i get. I have just heard anodizing is expensivee. But the thing is I am in key west and im pretty sure there aint any local peeps doing it. So it will save me some trouble.

Yep. Mishimoto quality is pretty crap. Almost all Mishimoto stuff used on the drift cars in Formula D is Koyo stuff rebadged as Mishimoto.

 

So what are you saying buy and ebay intercooler its better? I mean seriously explain your answers. I thought the mishimoto radiator was good. I know people have been using it and i havent heard of problems even on other car forums.

 

yep, I havent heard anything bad about them. I mean, TRD pretty much rebadges other products and no one complains about them.
