when you lower a xb with a 2" drop how long does the stock suspension hold up

no problems here..... ive had myne lowered for about a year

I'm thinking of doing the same to my BOP when I get some 17's on it.I have heard all of these horror stories about using the stock struts with lowered springs.I plan on running a 205/40/17 for rubber,I wonder what that would look like without dropping it?Pics anyone with 17's at stock height?

stock struts and im good...ive had mine droped for about 6 months...

I have Tanabe's, lowered on stock struts, put thousands of miles on them already (trip to houston and back) and no problems.

I am running a about a 2" drop on 215/35/18s. I bit of a rough ride, but that is why I am eventually going to try 215/40/18s.

I haven't heard any "horror"stories about it, at least not here on SL...

Why change a perfectly good strut so it doesn't wear out sooner??? You're going to throw them in a box on a shelf or in the trash, I say use them up, then look for your replacements...

And stock height looks awful with wheels. Presumably, your new tires and wheels are going to be about the same diameter, so th gap you have now is pretty much what you'll have after, only highlighted by a nice set of wheels...

also depends how you drive. if you dont go on the twistys and drive hard...they will last you a while...ive gone 10,000 miles with tanabes and i drive backroads hard all the time

We always recommend replacing the O.E. "Damper" anytime a vehicle is lowered. Not only are most O.E. dampers are not up to the task once a vehicle has been lowered, if they fail shortly after you install your lowering springs, you will be faced with double labor and alignment cost!

It's not about whether stock dampers will last or not... They're just not designed to work with shorter stroke, stiffer, higher frequency springs. So the car will not feel right.

Most people appear to be okay with this, I personally think it's awful, Unmatched springs and dampers make baby jesus cry. Anyways. :lalala:

goldline drop springs 2 inches and stock shocks and the ride is just as good as the stock springs had em on about 2 months now,i'll wait for the stock shock to blow them replace them....
