im running s-techs and i read that koni were the best rt to go...i made a thread last weeks in regards to this.....do u have different info, if so it would be greatly appreciated..
bdis3 12-13-2009, 10:29 PM I just installed them last night on a friends car. You have to cut apart the front strut and drain the fluid. After take out the actual strut and replace with the Koni. This is a little tedious, but he koni's are the best option next to coilovers.

It means that you have to install the cartridge into the stock strut housing. Meaning you have to hack the oem strut and install the cartridge in the oem housing.
highvoltage1 12-14-2009, 01:37 AM Hey konis are nice but why pay that amount to hack up your stock struts that you could sell or keep if you ever go back to stock. Like i said Tokico are top notch. Very well built and a great product and company. I really dont see how konis are the next best thing to coilovers. The next best thing to coilovers is coilovers. You wont get coilover stance or feel from a shock/strut.
I say make it easy on yourself and get tokico cause they are awesome and out of the box are ready for install!!

A few links for ya. Also check out the sponsored sales. Alot of vendors on there can make ya a deal. Just PM them. Konis are are at least $150 more from my quick searching.

You bring up a good point, but would you want to put blown struts/shocks back on a vehicle when selling privately?
Koni were a turn off for me when I heard that you had to hack the original units and one mistake mean your screwed.
But like you said, there are better alternatives out there than Koni.
Chrisb319 12-14-2009, 03:10 AM I love my tokicos, they rock.

definitely get the konis, they stiffen the ride and they are adjustable. the tokicos are nice as well but if you want a stiff ride, great handling, and all around smooth ride the konis are the way to go. like bryan said you have cut off the top part of the strut and drain the fluid out. once that part is done its pretty easy from there. our friend did it, i watched and now i can say i got a jist of how to do it. but i love them thanx bryan

wow....no dice, im going with tokicos...i dont have the tools to do that, and i always keep me oem parts in case of a emg. I still have my stock springs sitting in my garage since 04 lol....but thank you all for the info i have made my choice.....
hi i just install a koni shocks for my scion tc, the front is good, but there some problem on rear , there some noise each time i drive to a street or road. can somebody help me out ??? M616Lee@yahoo.com tell me what the problem please is bad

Well if your stock ones are blown then i wouldnt put them back on for private sale. Just leave the aftermarket shocks and throw the stock springs back on.
And i dont think the ride will be much diferent with the tokico vs. koni. I also didnt think all konis were adjustable i thought you had to pay more for that. But why spend that amount on kopnis when your not to far from coilovers? Tjhat dotn make sense. You can get good deals on coilovers on the classfieds. lets see adjustable shocks and springs prolly around 7-800 or used great consition coilovers 6-1000? id go with coilovers.
highvoltage1 12-17-2009, 01:06 PM Oh and the tokico blues are made for aftermarket spirngs. I believe the help you ride go lower cause my car is rideing lower than advertised by the H&R sport springs. I can rub on 17x8 wheels with a 45 offset on my set-up. i have a 1 and 1/2 finger gap and i have small fingers. My buddy had the H&R sport springs and had TRD shocks and i was lower.
