Did a valve clearance check today on our silver 06. 24K miles I thought it was time despite what the book says.
The whole job was fairly easy and once you get the cover off the clearances are easy to get to. The hard bit is lining up the timing mark, which looks easy in the book, but is a pain in practice because the frame is in the way and the pully is so close to it.
I was very happy i did not have to change any of the gaps as getting to the tensioner looks like a pain and with no shims to swap (must swap buckets) I would have needed to buy a micrometer as well, just to measure them.
Gap Results: (Inches)
EXH: .012 .012 .012 .011 .011 .012 .012 .012 Nominal .012
INL: .006 .006 .008 .006 .006 .006 .008 .008 Nominal .008
Tolerances are +/-.002"
5 of the inlets were on the tight side of the tolerance band, but not worth changing at this time. I'll check them again in about 10K, see where they are going
Pictures??? No flash on camera so quality is bad
Hard to get to timing mark

This .007" shim won't go, the .006" did, so gap is .006"

Only took a couple of hours of my free time. Reused same cover gasket so it was a free check.
