Ok, so I got the ARK N-1 Cat-back exhaust setup on my car and those of you with this exhaust know that you have to use the stock midpipe...well from the s-pipe to the secondary cat. well i have the Invidia S-Pipe also and i have a leak where the stock midpipe and s-pipe bolt up to... i have changed out gaskets like no other and still have the same leak!! i even put a _____ load of gasket maker on there to seal the leak but it still shows up...

i wanted to know how i can take out the stock ring type gasket thats in the stock midpipe, or what else could i do to get rid of this leak?!!?!?! i've even took it to numerous shops around town and they weren't able to help... im thinking of putting some washers in between the nuts and bolts to make a tighter fit.. it worked to clear my exhaust leak issue i was having with the s-pipe connecting to the header, you think it will work for this too????

I used to have this problem as well, I do not have the same set-up as you, but I finally got it fixed by welding those turbo exhaust flanges, the ones that look like triangles and have 3 bolts instead of 2, got it done at a muffler shop, problem solved.

 

oh i see what you mean, just have them take off the stock flanges and weld new ones on?? how much did this run you?

 

Yeah..thats it, I don't remember the cost, I don't think it was that much. It was less then $100 for sure, prob. around $50-60 depending on where you take it. good luck thou.

 

Yeah re-flanging would def fix the problem, personally first id try loosening the header and spipe joint, tightening the spipe/midpipe joint all the way, then tightening the header/spipe joint again as its a spherical gasket meant to deal with slight misalignment unlike the straight gasket between the spipe and midpipe. if that doesn't work then just get it re flanged, should only be around 60 or so depending on where you go.

 

my invidia s pipe leaks at the stock exhaust manifold and joint to stock midpipe.

I went to two exhaust shops and they didn't want to help me. They said megan s pipe would fit, that's all they said. That s pipe also seems to be hitting on the oil pan, theres a dent on the pipe and there was rattling when I'd take off hard.

So, wtf? I'm still trying to get answers myself. I might just modify the pipe with the stock flanges to the manifold and midpipe myself with my dads welder. FK it. Ugh.

 

If its hitting the oil pan might consider a change then for safety of the pan...

Yeah, if its hitting the pan theres something way off with the alignment and you should just weld it together. something has to be way off if its hitting the pan, it should be clear of it by atleast 1.5in.

 

well, what you could also do . take both 14mm bolts and install washers this way it will give you a tighter fit. or you could also replaced bolts and springs with straight 14mm bolts. problem solve and cheap

i might just put some washers on the bolts to make a tighter fit and see if that helps... if no dice, then i'll just take it to a muffler shop and have them change the flanges and call it a day..

 

just get some washers and put them on the bolts to make a tighter fit!!! it worked for my invidia s pipe to hearder manifold so i think it will work the same for the s pipe to exhaust midpipe connection... do that first and see if it works.... im going to put about 2-3 washers on each bolt to see if that helps

ill keep you guys updated for sure... i'm going to try to do this either on wednseday comming or over the weekend.. ill take some pics too of the washers i got on the spring-loaded bolts from header to s-pipe connection too... hopefully this works out cause im really tired of hearing that damn "pff pff" sound whenever i gun it then come to a stop...

 

Any update? I went to pep boys and got a gasket (spipe-midpipe) that seems to be better than the one that came with the invidia pipe.

Hey quick question to those of you who have the Invidia S-Pipe...
obviously for a N/A setup... how much larger is the diameter over the stock one? I saw it somewhere but forgot where.
