Do most people here have smoked sidemarkers/eyelids?
I've been thinking of getting eyelids on my FM tC but was wondering how much they cost? Also how does one go about applying them...like are they removable? I heard you can't pass inspection with them on and I got inspection coming up in August so wouldn't want to buy them if they're permanent.
If you guys have these mods on your cars can you please post pics
I'd like to see more of how they look. Oh, and what color lids go best with Flint Mica? I was thinking carbon fiber but I don't know.

Haha just going to say it before anyone else does.. There are tons of threads on this. Use your search button (great feature of SL
) and search for eye lids or tint. Otherwise go to the Scion tC section Aero&Exterior and look around..

Or maybe I should just get a FM eyelid.
Also, are smoked side markers street legal? thx

if you have to ask if something is illegal or not.. it's just a safe bet to say it is.
there is a new 3M vinyl that is textured and looks pretty much like real CF. i have a sample piece and i have to say i was actually impressed.
3M DI-NOC.. look it up.

I have a 2006 Scion tC (Azure Pearl) and have eyelids installed, which are a polyurethane. I bought my eyelids off of ebay but paid way too much for mine. I would suggest buy a set that are made of polyurethane or fiberglass not a vinyl over lay, but that is my opinion. Ther are a few sites that are selling eyelids:
1) NIABodykits.com
2) CustomtC.com
3) Ebay.com
4) StreetBeatCustoms.com
Eyelids install using a double sided tape, same as vent shades. I would be very careful when installing them if you have never done this before. Once you stick them, that's it. They are a pain in the butt to remove, but none the less they look cool as hell and give an aggressive look. Now as far as an eyelid being illegal or causing you to fail an inspection, that's false. I have never heard of such nonsence, but NY States laws are more strict that other states. Check with your local state DOT laws to confirm.

And darn really? Once you put them on it's hard to take them off? btw is it ok to drive with them in the rain and snow, etc.
^Hm the carbon fiber from Randode's doesnt look bad at all from far away. Seriously considering ordering them now for my FM tC
Do they go on easy from Randode?
Also where does everyone but their smoked side markers from? I like those a lot.

Having an eyelid on your Scion is perfectly fine to have on whether is raining or snowing. They don't block/hinder your headlights. Taking them off is another task in itself. If your not careful in removing the eyelid for whatever reason, you could tear/rip/crack them. The double sided take that may be left behind comes off with either rubbing alcohol, or Goo Gone works really well. I have washed my car several times by hand, or in a brushless carwash and never had an eyelid come off.
All the eyelids that I have seen that are a vinyl overlays are already pre-cut. Now if you wanted to get creative you could vector your own and have it cut out on a vinyl cutting machine. Although with a vinyl overlay, when your headlights are on you can see the light emitting through. Its totally up to you on what look your going for and what money your willing to spend.
^If light comes through the vinly overlay what's the other material I can get so that light won't shine through?
And hmm you sure it's ok to use rubbing alcohol on your head lamps? Don't they have a solution on them that could be damaged by the alcohol

If you don't the light shining through, get a polyurethane or fiberglass eyelid. As far as damaging your headlight from alcohol or any cleaner, that is a big false. I used rubbing alcohol to prep the area prior to installation and have also used Windex and never ruined a thing. I also polish and wax my headlights every year and they still look clear and like new.
I've used randode's eyelids, and they go on and come off with ease. They only show cf vinyl eyelids for the tC on the website, but you can request just the plain black vinyl if you prefer.

Do you have to apply heat to the overlays to peel them off?And also I've been thinking of waxing my car for the spring. Do you do it yourself or do you go to a car wash place to do it?
Do those apply the same way as overlays..and can I pair them up with eyelids?
If your going to wax your car, personally I would rather see you take these steps into consideration:
Step 1: Wash the car
Step 2: Clay Bar System (Mothers)
Step 3: Polish (Mothers or Meguiars)
Step 4: Wax (Mothers or Meguairs)
Step 5: Detailing Spray
