View Full Version : TPMS system questions 2005 tC
butter nuts 02-07-2010, 01:13 AM My TPMS light is flashing along with a solid ABS light and the BRAKE light.
I think the tires are missing the pressure sensors inside, but I don't know the exact history of the car.
My question is; If the sensors are indeed missing, would this cause all 3 lights to come on?
And; Is there a reliable way to disable the TPMS system?
DJ08tC 02-07-2010, 01:20 AM 05s dont have the sensors in the wheel so it is something else.
butter nuts 02-07-2010, 01:25 AM Oh, strange. Thanks.
Any idea how the system operates? I had the lights scanned and 4 codes came back, one for each wheel it said something about a sensor but this was a long time ago and I forget.
DJ08tC 02-07-2010, 01:31 AM i believe 05-06s run off the abs system and measure wheel speed
butter nuts 02-07-2010, 01:47 AM Do you know the method of resetting the system? I know there is a button but it does not do anything when I push it and I do not have the factory manuals.
FreedomOne 02-07-2010, 03:17 AM Hold the button down. Maybe disconnect the battery...

Haha, really?
I found this on a Tacoma sight... to scan for ABS codes jump the #4 pin to the #13 pin on the OBD scanport, this will flash the codes. To reset, tap the brakes 8 times in 1/2 second intervals.. this will clear the stored codes. Any codes still left after clearing, look into repairs. I had one code left over, #32 front left speed sensor.
I pulled the wheel and the wiring was worn though... I'm assuming the moron previous owner and some retarded aftermarket wheels/suspension components. These aren't race cars. A little soldering and some 3-ply heat shrink and it's good to go.
FWIW I paid $4k for this pile of crap, put $200 in fixing the AC and a couple hours un-doing ricer mods now have it 100% problem free low mileage grocery getter.
Steveo33186 02-07-2010, 03:26 AM I have an 08 tc and you have to hold the butto down for 3 seconds (i think) untill the light starts to flash to reset it
RoboCop 02-07-2010, 03:43 AM After you turn the car on, hold the button in the glovebox down until the light turns off. That resets the light.
SquallLHeart 02-07-2010, 03:44 AM if you have an owner's manual.. the instructions would have told you to hold the reset button until the light flashes 3 times.
but yes.. your car does not use pressure sensors and goes off the ABS.
since the ABS sensors were messed up because of the worn and screwed up wires.. that's why both the ABS and the TPMS lights went on.
JINeration 02-09-2010, 07:06 PM lets just hope its not the abs sensors cause those cost and arm and a leg just for one
butter nuts 02-10-2010, 01:38 AM Does anyone on here read before posting? Jesus.
SquallLHeart 02-13-2010, 10:23 AM ^^ yea.. i know.. some people are a little slow.. here.. i'll try again..

it's the abs sensors.. (or at least the wiring for them)
though i suppose he might argue well.. the sensors are technically okay.. blah blah blah..
