My car is fairly new and I didn't realize right away, but when I went to get the free toyota oil change/tire rotation, toyota put my tires on backwards. I have different tires/wheels on them and the tires are directional and all the arrows are pointing backward now instead of forward. I looked it up online and a lot of websites say it makes no difference, but when I called tire rack (where I got them) and the tire manufacturer, both say the tires can wear faster if put on in the wrong direction. I called toyota and they said it makes no difference and won't fix it unless I want to pay for tire rotation - annoying! So, does it really matter? considering toyota is already in a bunch of sht for recalls you would think they would want to help customers out and fix their own mistakes but guess not!

It does make a difference. They can wear funny and you're basically losing performance for from the tires.

Call again and ask to speak with the manager and explain. If he doesn't accommodate you, I'd call Scion Corporate, they're obviously not doing what they can to make you happy.

ok thanks. I'm not sure because they can be weird if you have non stock parts maybe theyll say well we do things according to stock recommendations, etc. but I'll see what happens.

Stock parts or not - you're still a customer. If they don't want to make you happy, they don't deserve your business.

if i recall anyways most of the stock tires that come on the car a directional anyways so they should know what they are doing.

i just think the dealerships just dont care.......they do what they want and think they know it all...

Rotate them yourself and clean the rims while they are off? Ya, it sucks that they won't fix it, but you shouldn't expect top notch service from dealerships anymore. I definitely avoid the dealership whenever possible.
Or get a boyfriend to do it?

lol my dads xb was the same way he went in and the idiots at the dealership put the tires on backwards when he had them replaced.. he flipped sh** on them they were denying it until my dad was like look at what the tire says and it said "inside part of tire" or something like that, the dealer guys are idiots man they know just as much as the average joe does lol

I'd call 'em on it, it's a safety issue: You likely have a v-shaped tread, so in dry conditions you will have reduced traction, in rainy conditions you are more likely to hydroplane. Also, depending on how many miles you have on them and how they where the tires ended up mounted, the tires may feel as if they pull to one side.
