View Full Version : Rims and Wheels question?????
Fsu1dolfan 02-16-2005, 02:48 PM I will soon be ordering a new TC and need to ask a question. I don't really want to lower my car with springs and new suspension, so instead i figure i can give it a good look with 18 or 19 inch rims/wheels. This i hope will fill the gap between the wheel well nicely (NOTE: i dont need slammed look). Has anyone just upgraded the wheels/rims WITHOUT lowering the car? If so how is performance, look, feel, etc. Would love if i could get some pics as examples. Thanks so much everyone
brian 02-16-2005, 02:53 PM I would imagine the car would look awkward with 18+ wheels and no lowering. I'm planning on lowering and then 18s when the cash comes around.
Fsu1dolfan 02-16-2005, 02:59 PM I'm assuming it looks better than having stock 17's on without lowering!!!
AV_Tc 02-16-2005, 03:38 PM I just got my Tc two days ago with 18" rims and no lowering. I think it looks great. The 18s look like correct size for that car to me. The 17" look a little small for some reason. Sorry, no pics. It has been raining like crazy since I got it.

I would really appreciate if you could get some pics (up close and full view)  . Also how does it handle? Thanks so much!!!!

handling would depend on the tires he has and also the size of the wheels. and if you care about handling, i would lower the car.
hal9000 02-16-2005, 09:53 PM head to the tread and butter section in the technical forum..you'll find lots of pics under the first sticky "post pics of tC w/rims etc."..lots of 18's & 19's before people put their springs on.
RogerTTR 02-16-2005, 11:14 PM FYI, 18 or 19 inch wheels&tires will definitely improve the looks and the handling of your vehicle, however, they will not fill the gap between your tires and the fender!
For more information regarding the products we have for your vehicle including some graphics that will demonstrate these fitments and the effects of larger tires/wheels and lowering, please visit our site at:

LowProMofo 02-16-2005, 11:33 PM You could go with 20's to fill the fender gaps.
johnny 02-17-2005, 12:13 AM Hmmm, let's see...
If you fill the 2"+ fender gap with just bigger wheels/tires, that means you also gain that on the bottom of the tire, meaning you just lifted your tC 2". Higher center of gravity & ugly as hell. Just lower it.

Modified Mag's tC with 20's is badass! But it's lowered.

That definately looks good. But it's got extremely low profile tires, which puts the overall diameter of the wheel/tire combo close to stock, which means if it wasn't lowered it would still have the wheel gap. So let me rephrase: Just put bigger wheels on it AND lower it.

The handling is fantastic. Better then I expected. It has been mostly raining and I have been taking it pretty easy. I did get some dry roads this morning, and this car is very confident in the turns.
Hope this helps.
