I was just wondering if the stock rubbers would fit on another 17 rim that was 7.5 wide. I think the stock rim is only 7, feel free to spreading the info and educating me in this matter.

Each given size tire has a "range" of rim widths it will fit. At the "narrow" end of the range the ride is slightly better but control and steering response are slightly "softer." At the "wide" end of the range, handling is improved at the expense of a slightly harsher ride.

Go to a good tire site that has tables showing the range of rim widths for specific tire sizes and you can get a very solid answer quickly and easily...

I understand that tires can be used to fit varying size rims but have no idea to the extent can you refer me to a link. Also does anyone have a definitive answer on the width of the stock tc rim.

stock rim size is 17x7, straight from toyota...

the oem tires according to tirerack.com is the bridgestone potenza re92's... according to the specs have a width range of 7-8"... from the bridgestone site:

http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tireselector/dpp/sizespecs.asp?passproductid=8

i've also read on here that some tC's come with yoko's as the oem tire... so you might have to check their site for exact specs on those...

FYI, I can confirm the O.E. wheel is size is 17x7 and the O.E. tire size is 215/45ZR17 which will fit wheels with a width range of 7.00 to 8.00 inches.

the is an optimal width you can check tirerack and I'm sure it is 7.0 for 215 tire, and you can go with a bigger tire but pushing a smaller tire to a fatter rim is a nono. plus the stock tires really really really suck, IMO it ain't even worth the mounting and balance fee for the RE92, I got my OEM tires in storage to put on when I sell my ride, they are useless tires. Go to tirerack and read the reviews this tires is the worst tire I've ever had.

To sum it up it will "fit" but don't do it even if it was a good tire, but since it is the worst of the worst tire is is good for the landfill.
