Default make your own ZPI kit questions???

so ive got an somewhat interesting question that i could not find on here whatsoever!

I was wondering since ZPI has made there turbo setup with no intercooler and whatnot if it was:

A) possible to make your own ZPI setup?
B) what all would you need?
C) can you use just any turbo for it?
D) how does it work with no intercooler like that??

idk just doesnt make alot of sense to me but enough i guess. Just looking for some feedback on it.

also how much HP did the ZPI kit putout? and how much you think you would make it you made your own?? thanks! sorry if it was a dumb question but ive been thinkin about it for about a week now ha

if you were to build a custom setup up, why not do it right.. Dont do short cuts..

to answer your questions
A. yes, not zpi though lol
B. same as what the zpi stage 0 comes with-- not recommended, just go for a full kit
C. no, use a small turbo.. big turbo will blow your motor easy
D. well it did.. but think about it, you are feeding your intake with hot intake charge.. you are adding stress to the motor aside from the boost

i started with a stage0 and the intercooler makes a world of a difference and i will admit it sucked chunks trying to route that piping!
there r several zpi kits for sale in the classifieds u should consider that...building your own will probly end up costing u more in fabricating pipes unless u have access to a shop with supa cheap labor.
i ran my stage0 with no intercooler and the heat made the car feel boggy.

lucky! i went to 2 shops here in san antonio one wanted my car for a week just to fab up some pipes! other wanted 75$/hr and gave me an estimate of 4hrs to do the work....thats supa expensive!
i ended up buying dezod pipes in the clasiffied and did it my self but still...over all i didnt spend to much on my set up i guess it would of been worse.
i got the
stage 0 zpi kit for 800
fic 300
injectors 200
pipes 230
uego 170
but then that doesnt include all the lil things lol still cheaper than a new kit i guess.

well even though you guys flamed him a bit...

what he gets out of it, was that his questions were answered.

the 1984-1989 nissan 300zx turbo used a v6 motor, t3 turbo, and no intercooler. only a 2 foot pipe from the turbo to the throttle body.

It's not impossible to run with out an intercooler. And that Nissan did it but then again that car was built for booost and tuned for those hot intake temps.
But an intercooler is a good idea on the tc especially if he wants to run untuned. I don't know about u guys but Texas summers r supa hot!!!

if u really wanna run UNTUNED and wiht NO INTERCOOLER the only turbo possible to do it with is the 16g and even that can be dangerous in hot conditions...

mod you can lock this tread at this point because this is tried, true and proven

now if u throw in 440-550 cc injectors.... u can run most turbos at ONLY 6psi untunned... the afr will be around 10.5-11.8 at WOT and well the ecu will control closed loop fuel trims

but u will not be able to boost during partial throttle with out running hella lean during closed loop, and then once open loop kicks in youll be running so rich that you will need new rings in no time
