Well, my Sister seems to think the xB is top heavy, and would flip easily. Is there any truth to that at all? I don't believe it is, but I figure I could at least ask you guys for a confirmation.

View Full Version : Top Heavy? Wix 02-19-2005, 01:13 AM Well, my Sister seems to think the xB is top heavy, and would flip easily. Is there any truth to that at all? I don't believe it is, but I figure I could at least ask you guys for a confirmation. snuppy 02-19-2005, 01:44 AM nope... not a problem at all... even stock, the car sits pretty low to the ground and has a low center of gravity... i used to love telling my siblings they were wrong... :silly: codemunkee 02-19-2005, 01:46 AM it's top heavy relative to other cars, but not top heavy compared to SUVs. it has a low center of gravity and would take significant effort to flip. Wix 02-19-2005, 01:51 AM Glad to hear that. Thanks for the help. komik 02-19-2005, 03:24 AM Some chick in Mandeville said her friend flipped his box on the metal grating part of a bridge. I have yet to believe that story. After riding in my friend's box at the last autocross with the traction control and wheel spin warnings beeping non-stop, I'd say they stick to the ground pretty damn well. :D wyldkard 02-19-2005, 03:28 AM I've never had a problem with it seeming like it was going to tip over. -Z C_Monsta 02-19-2005, 03:32 AM pretty much what everyone else said, it is pretty low for its size, longer then compared to say a Kia Sportage (which really does seem like it wants to flip over), so the box has a low center of gravity Old_Punk 02-19-2005, 09:50 AM You sit higher from the car's pivot point than you do in most cars -- your butt is farther from the floor -- so you FEEL like you're tipping a lot more than you actually are. One of the first things I did on my test drive was take a corner sharp and fast to see how tippy it might be. Not bad. No more tippy than your average minivan or Buick. Max2k 02-19-2005, 12:40 PM Maybe if you've got like 8 sunroofs. TheScionicMan 02-19-2005, 07:43 PM VSC is good at combatting any tipping tendencies, but it's not even an issue, especially with it dropped a couple inches... |
