Hello guys~
well I recently got a set of rays gram light 57 pro and the previous previous owner didn't take care of these wheels. Seems like he drag raced a lot so the the entire back of the wheels were black as hell.
I did get a lot off but still, a lot of the dusts that are baked are stuck!
I used tons of wheel cleaners, and so far, no clearcoat came off. (i think)
here's what I used:
1. Mother's wheel cleaner
2. Simple green (w/ water 50:50, then 70:50 and worked a little but not strong enough)
3. degreaser (works a bit)
4. All purpose cleaner w/ water (nope)
Recommendations of strong dust cleaning products will be awesome.
Some people told me to use A2Z (Eagle One), but I think it's going to be the same.
Help me out!!

The brake dusts are like STUCK! literally STUCK!
used simple green (full strength) but i'm going to try again tomorrow and see what I need to do. I have to use the toothbrush and rub it like crazy to get them off. ARGH!!!!!!

u might wanna wet sand the whole thing or somehow make a pump and allow it to pump simple green on the rim over night to keep it soaked, have u tried scotch brite pads? pics would help us see how bad it is

i got most of them down.the inner parts of the wheel are clear-coated so wet-sanding is still a no no.
I'll try to just soak them up w/ simple green.
use a heavy compound cleaner wax. Not a 1-step "mcguires" or whatev. Go to a AUTO DETAIL shop (or use autobarn.com) and get a heavy compound. It will require some work, but it will clean your wheels the right way. Your just spraying more chemicals bro. Ardex makes some stuff that will work.
Afterwords, buff it to a high shine. I wax my wheels once a week on a 3 year old car, and they could pass as brand new.
You want a drying tip? Are you lugs rusty colored? Clean the lugs up - but go buy a electric leaf blower from sears. I got one last year for $20 that was half off. Blow your wheels (and the rest of the whole car) dry with it. It works awesome, and gets in places a shammy could never EVER get into. No water streaks, no sitting water to rust up lugs. I use it for the front grill as well. I also leaf blow dry my street bikes. It works perfectly.
