View Full Version : Bent Dezod rear endlink...
xdejablu3x 04-23-2010, 01:40 AM My rear right endlink seems to be a little bent. It's not straight like it used to be because one of the bushings for my sway bar got loose and was always hitting the bottom of the car when i drove up steep driveways and such. I guess that's what caused it to bend a little. Do you guys think it's okay to drive around on this?

CSUnited14 04-23-2010, 05:57 AM wow looks rough.... check with dezod ;)
xdejablu3x 04-23-2010, 08:36 PM DEZOD where you at?! lol
paul_dezod 04-23-2010, 08:50 PM DEZOD where you at?! lol
Can you get a better pic of the endlink itself from a few different angles?

yeah ill try. its actually bent about 10 degrees. the left one is perfectly straight though.

Could have been from a pot hole or something hit hard on that side. That is about the only thing that would bend these next to a full on car accident.
CSUnited14 04-23-2010, 10:18 PM hate to be a D... but a pot hole is alot different then a wreck....
xdejablu3x 04-23-2010, 10:21 PM I can tell you for sure i havnt been in wreck or hit any bad pot holes. ever since i dropped my car last summer ive been really careful driving everywhere and taking alternative routes. i mean the car seems to drive fine but i just want to make sure it wont crap out on me soon. plus some of the parts are rusting a little bit. ill try and get some better photos posted up soon.
paul_dezod 04-23-2010, 10:21 PM Pot holes here in buffsalo can be just as bad.
xdejablu3x 04-23-2010, 10:38 PM Alright I just took some photos. Managed to get home early.
Here's the left endlink.

Sorry for the slightly blurry pics. My exhaust is in the way so it was kind of hard to get a good angle.
...but yeah I just want to make sure my stuff wont fall apart while Im driving cause that would suck really bad.
RoboCop 04-23-2010, 11:08 PM This is what I am worried about with the DG swaybar. A stiff bar and regular driving can't be easy on these endlinks.

Yeah I figure. Thats one reason why I went with the TRD swaybar cause Ill be doing a lot of DD. Just wanted something better than stock endlinks so I went with Dezod since I've heard a lot of great things from him.
DJ08tC 04-24-2010, 12:28 AM stock FTW, over a year with absolutely no problems
i would just watch it for now to see if it gets worse
xdejablu3x 04-24-2010, 02:02 AM Need more opinion folks. I know there are some guys out there running these kind of setups for over a year now.
pinoyFMtC 04-24-2010, 03:24 PM I bent my Dezod endlinks (TRD bar), most likely due to improper install. They bent after less than a month. I didn't use washers to make them as vertical as possible. They were also unequal heights, that may have contributed as well. I drove on them broken for a few weeks.
Now with the Progress endlinks (very similar to Dezod ones), I tried to get them as vertical as possible, and they're holding up great.
engifineer 04-24-2010, 04:09 PM Honestly dont know why people go out and buy aftermarket endlinks to run a TRD rear bar. There is no preloading issues with a stock bar and not enough adjustment positions to warrant adjustable links. I have run stock endlinks since I bought the car, including about 4 years with a trd bar and 3 seasons of autox.
Will be switching of course to run the dezod links with the DG bar when it gets here.

Same here, I've been running TRD rear sway bar with stock endlinks on stiffest setting for 3+years.
KiKaZ-tC 04-24-2010, 04:48 PM Dezod adjustable endlink install instructions

Can someone please explain the instructions given on how to determine the length to set your endlinks at?
engifineer 04-24-2010, 08:24 PM You want to keep the links fairly perpendicular to the mounting point.
In addition, you get them adjusted pretty close that way, then:
1) Connect one side only
2) Let the car sit on the most level surface you can find (you can even use some sort of shim, like plywood, under a tire if you need to get it level) with the full weight of the car sitting on the wheels.
3) Tweak the adjustment of the other link so it easily fits in the bar.
That will remove any preload in the sway.

Correct.
Poor install or having unequal lengths on them (preload biased to one side) can cause them to have issues as well.
An adjustable endlinks works well if the ride height is altered from stock because this changes the overall suspension geometry. This is the whole rhyme and reason behind the adjustable length of them.

I have a good reason for it. I was installing the TRD bar, and I overtorqued the endlink, and snapped half the thread off. Instead of buying the uber-expensive endlinks from Toyota, I got the much cheaper Dezod ones.

Ok, I kind of understand your instructions, just one question.
Step 1. Connect one side only - What length do I set this adjustable endlink at?
Cwatz5219 04-26-2010, 09:52 PM watching. Interested in sway bars and dezod endlinks

The way I set mine (I read on another thread here), was to get the bar as parallel as possible to the ground.

Correct! If it's favored to one side or another, it creates biasedness in handling in that direction.
ScionFreak08 05-02-2010, 01:16 AM i can see y ur endlinks bent let me post some picss up real quick so i can show u..

RoboCop 05-02-2010, 01:51 AM Good call. He isn't using any spacers to allow him to go to the outside.
xdejablu3x 05-03-2010, 05:28 AM oh i just realized that. wow ive been driving it like this for almost a year!
KiKaZ-tC 05-03-2010, 04:50 PM Nice catch on the problem ScionFreak08

what size are those spacers cause i dont think i have room to put it on the outside like shown in this picture.

the spacers are approx. 1/4 inch.
you should have plenty of space to place endlinks on outside, that is how the stock endlinks were positioned.

where did you get them at? you sure i will have clearance? it looks like a very tight fit if i try and put them on the outside.
RoboCop 05-03-2010, 11:33 PM How can you not have enough space when everyone else does it on the outside?

just making sure buddy. thanks everyone. rearranging tomorrow.
Kanchi 05-04-2010, 02:26 AM :clap: to Scionfreak08!!!! Very interested in a se of these to help finish off the butt lol
xdejablu3x 05-07-2010, 04:55 PM i didnt have time to go get spacers but what do you guys think now? still not as vertical but...

tcnoob 05-07-2010, 05:18 PM looks like u need about two spacers uptop
engifineer 05-07-2010, 07:18 PM Top heim is probably going to wear out sooner than later with it that way. I would add some spacers as soon as you can. A lot of spacer adds leverage on the bolt which I dont like as much, but maxing out the heim movement is a much worse problem.

thanks for the tip. ill try and install some asap. hopefully within next week. dont really have time till then.
