Default '05 xB Instrument Cluster

I just picked up a second one of these up and I'm curious. I'm starting up an all digital interior project, but I've never done an instrument cluster. If i remove the cluster/Speedo and replace it with an DashDAQ or something like a Dakota Digital display, what adverse affects would i have if i didn't reconnect all of the sensors on the cluster (like the tach or Odometer)?

do you have an auto or 5spd?

the auto will throw codes everywhere, but the 5spd is probably gonna be easier to adapt

the one we're gonna rebuild the interior is a 5spd.
