Just had got a big run around from my dealer. They had told me i should be able to get my box with 1 thousand down, but know they are asking for 2100. How much did you people have to put down. Now remember that I dont have bad credit I just dont have any credit. Any suggestions on what I should do?

You are not required to put any money down....does it help your monthly payments? yes.....they are still required to run it through.......I would also suggest you contact your bank to see if you can get a loan through them too.....also maybe your parents will co-sign for you also?

I would of got my parents to co sign but they have worse credit than I do. I know going through my bank will help but Ive only been working with Toyota for A lil over a month and only been with my bank for 2 weeks. I know that affects the loan situation right?

oh yeah.... your jakt! having a new car is cool and all but work on your credit rating first or they are just going to SPANK you on the rate. thats why they want so big of a down.

If they're giving you the run around I'd definately get my loan somewhere else. I got 3.7% at Bank of the West.

Yea, I didn't have to have anyone consign. They wanted someone to cosign, because I was 19, but my credit score was high enough to not warrant one. I put $5000 down.

if you have no credit, then i doubt you will get away with nothing down. you will need a co-signer also. dealers can require you to put something down since they are the ones loaning the money.

2.Ill stop having to bum rides off my friend for work
3.And im going to try to trade it in for a box later(if i find a standard one)

Trading it in would be a stupid idea - you'r just going to loose more money later than the difference you'd have to pay now for an xB. Say you buy a base aB for around 12.5k (don't know the exact price) - you're going to get somewhere between 7-9k for it as a trade in even one year from now, due to depreciation. Then when you buy the xB, you'll be paying that price plus whatever you owe on the loan for the xA - which means you're going to start paying out of the butt for such a dumb decision.

This is the position most new car buyers often put themselves in. They wat a new car now, and then down the road they want another new car, compounding their debt.

If you really don't want the xa, don't settle for it. Wait a little while and save up to put a big chunk down for an xb.

I still maintain, see if you can't get a loan through someone else. There's people that'll give you a complete loan out there. Get it from someone else and then just go in there with cash.

I would agree on several points....

Try and ge a loan somewhere else.

Dont buy the xA and expect to get a butt load of money back in a year or 2 and make out squeky clean, then buy a xB when you have a little more cash. I know from personal experience, i purchased a Hyundai Accent 2 1/2 yrs ago cause i needed a ride to work. Shortly after 9/11 i stopped driving truck and got another job with a company car, so my Accent sat for the better part of a year. Come to find out, when i wanted to trade it in on my RS1xB, the dealer would only offer me $1,100, but i still owed $5,500! That would have meant a $4,400 carry over to the new loan on the xB. i was looking at payment of over $350 a month, for 72 months! Short math, i would have been paying 24K for a 15K car! Save your money, do a little more homework, work a side job under the table making pizzas, what ever, just dont go buy a car and not getting what you really want, YOU WILL GET SCREWED IN THE END ( no pun intended).

BTW, i was lucky enough to find a private buyer for the Accent, and sold it just enough to cover the loan, i broke even. Now i can get the RS1xB, get the parts to hook it up, and have a payment of about $285 a month, for 5 years, not 6

my credit isn't that great either...and i went home with my xB with no money down ..financed through Toyot Finance. can't complain... but on the other hand, i already had my 2002 4runner financed already through Toyota as well...so maybe that helped.

780 FICO score, now thats decent. I just found out that i dont have to put any monies down, and i will qualify for 4.1%, that just made my day. Just yesterday, one part of Scion Financial stated that in order to qualify for tier 1, you needed to apply 10% down with purchase, now i dont have to come up with $1,700, very, very nice.

Here is the site, hope it helps make someones day, as it did mine.

it definatly helps buying another toyota if you have one. when i got my matrix i was available for 4% at 60 months and wouldn't had to put anything down. i went for 72 months just because i plan on moving out and would need the extra cash.

that's a really mature way to look at the situation, I know it feels crappy but you'll be one proud s.o.b when you do it yourself. I would recommend in the meantime to try and apply for a student credit card or get a walmart card or something to start building your credit- try and keep a minimum balance of $500 in your bank, and save, save, save. The more money you save before going the better off you'll be even if you don't use all of it towards a down payment. I ended up paying almost a 25% interest rate on my first loan because I hadn't established credit anywhere else and thats nowhere you wanna be when talking about a $15k+ loan.

I put $8,000 down for $157 p/mth 60 months @6.75%

Transferring $1,900 to my Bank of America credit card 0% until Feb. 2005 and $5,000 to my Discover card which is 0% for the life of the loan.

I'll owe about $1,200 after that. Title will be in my hand within 3 months and the credit cards will be paid off early next year. The one that expires in Feb. will be paid before it goes to 7.9%
