Vrooom. Once this is on, and the midpipe is created and on, will get another dyno number.

Too much to worry about for not enough gain on an econo-box car that was not and will never be a fast/performance vehicle.

Ummm, nothing to worry about, and this motor can reach 170 at the wheels with bolt ons,and over 200 with engine work, naturally aspirated. But hey, opinions welcome. I don't agree with body kits, and I also don't stroll into their forum and take your tone either.

While this is mostly true, pulleys aren't even expensive and if you don't mind working on a car it's no big deal. Maybe it is to you if you don't know how to work on your own car...?

If you look at his other posts, you can tell he's sort of bitter about this car in general. Apparently, it's been giving him problems. Just ignore him.

Ha ha, back on topic.

What are the advertised/expected gains when using this? Haven't researched this at all and am too tired to actually find the answer.

Realistically, I think it frees up 2-3 hp. I would think it would allow the engine to rev a little faster more than anything, which is good, because you need to get in the 5000 rpm range for the majority of your power.

2-3 hp for $157? That seems kind of pricey for such a small gain by itself.

But then I remember how awesome your box is with all the performance mods!

So when coupled with your setup, I'm assuming the goal is to get up to 5000 rpm as quickly as possible and have a little extra boost with this pulley? Again, I'm not familiar with this bolt-on mod.

I need to see your dynamometer run to get real numbers.

Not too pricey, when you look at other mods. The axle backs are about the same or less power, and they cost more. It's more of a sound mod. This will be my first UDP, but in my reading's the same comments are consistent, couple of HP and rev's faster. To answer your question, the faster you can get the RPM's up the faster you can get to the sweet spot in the power range, which is 4-6k rpm's on this car.

Since UDP's are kind of a known, and have been around awhile, I'll not be getting a dyno this time. If Malibuguy comes up with a midpipe for sale, and I add it, then Ill go dyno the midpipe and UDP to see what they added.

Im pretty sure you wont gain any hp from a lighter pulley. The gain is being able to move your power band where you need it. I could be wrong though.

You're gaining power, but not in the way you think. You gain power because you are losing less. A lightweight pulley reduces rotational mass, so hopefully you get the picture from there. This is similar to getting a lightweight flywheel and driveshaft.

You "free" hp. Plus, with the underdrive, accessories rob less power from the engine.
