Giving speech on scion tomorrow
Tomorrow in my speech class, I have to give a informative speech about anything I want. I decided to talk about scion or just the xb. I would appreicate it if yall could give me some input in what i should say. Thanks
talk about pure pricing, talk about how scion has taken the industry by surpise...I own a tC so I cant tell you much more to add...I guess make the xB sound hip, maybe you can use some satire to poke fun at it as an ice breaker
Good Luck, I did the same thing last school year, before it was even out on the East Coast...Tell them about SCionlife, and all the things you learn from one site...Tell them why you got it, and you'll be fine...

The pure pricing scheme is not new.
I would focus on the reasons WHY Toyota felt the need for a new brand (to target younger people being missed by their other products)
You could talk at length about all the non-traditional methods Toyota used to develop the brand. They deliberately ran few TV ads or print ads when it first came out, instead choosing to show the actual cars at hip night clubs and concerts around the country. Toyota felt that would generate hype better than directly targeting ads at Gen Y'ers. Their market research showed that Gen Y doesn't like being marketed to and the product would have a hipper image if it spread first by word of mouth and reputation instead of ads telling you how "cool" it is. You might mention how they made the cars an exceptional value by using existing JDM models (xA/B) and making all the cars in a monospec, no trim levels. That reduced the cost of production and maintaining inventory etc.
They also saved money developing the xB/bB and xA/Ist by designing them entirely in software instead of building costly models and test mules. I beleive they are among the few (if not the only) production cars designed this way.

I did a speech on Scion too. I knew a lot about it, so I didn't have to worry about memorizing a lot of crap. Only thing is you have to try not to sound like a commercial, just tell people why you like the cars and stuff like that.
