Default Dyno tuning auto 08 tc with intake/exhaust mods?

So just a heads up. I'm still in the learning stages of mods and such and I have a seasoned pro helping me out (this is his first time building up a TC though). Anyways, I have a full catback exhaust, downpipe, header, and aem cai intake. Now I'm looking to dyno tune. But when he asked his shop guy about tuning the tc, he said something about not being able to reflash the ecu on the tc or something. Is this true? I mean I hear amazing things about the extra power you get just from tuning so I don't want to miss out. Maybe the mechanic was wrong? I mean the TC was made to be modded...

nope cant tune the stock ecu..this has been stated many many of times and i even had a thread about building a NA motor. there is a harness you can buy to tune the stock ecu that cost 1800 bucks. the only way to gain horsepower is with boost

damn sorry man! i probably search for all the wrong keywords (plus scionlife, lets face it, doesn't have the greatest search engine within itself)

and thats lame. 1800 bucks! sheesh. oh well. just looked it up real quick. are you talking about aem ems and/or unichip? either way doesnt seem worth it. but s/c is like 3k not installed. also a lot. i was hoping to tune for a few hundred for just abit more power oh well
