Default 2Qt's oil in 5500 miles

So I will be doing a cylnder pressure test this week to check for valves, and pistion rings, cylnder wall wear.
Is they anyone who has had this problem and any other ideas as to where the oil is going?

Checked the drain plug , oil pan, and filter no leaks found
No blue smoke that I have seen on start up or 1st gear
checked coolent for oil, and no condsation in oil fill, or dipstick

The car is at 96K

Ive seen very good motors start using around 1/2 qt at that mileage, but 2 seems very xtreme for use. Hope it's nothing serious for you.

Clogged PCV can cause blowby oil consumption. Try replacing it (or at least a good cleaning). They're usually pretty inexpensive.

Cleaned the PCV this weekend, will be changing it out along with the coolant in the next few weeks

as to oil it's Pennzoil platinum synthetic 5w-20
I picked up Pennzoil platinum synthetic 5w-30 for the next round if the PCV has no effect as i think 20 weight is = water

It's not the oil, 20wt is very durable and fine (my UOA's for 0w-20 are fine). If it's using 2 qts of 20wt over that period, it's an issue.

Its def not the oil but using a thicker weight can possibly help with burn off. OP, I'd go with a 40 weight and see if that helps. Many people might think thats too thick but I have over 200,000 miles between two vehicles that have used 10w-40 and they were spec'd for 5w-20 without issues.

Normal oil consumption is a calculation based on how you drive. What is normal for most might not be normal for you.

Do you do a lot of higher RPM driving?

The PCV idea sounds good, also check the hose to make sure it isn't clogged with coaked oil. This will cause a greater vacuum which will draw oil into the intake manifold.
