My buddy hahajoey won one once just to see what the hell they are all about...it just gives you stupid info about how to get things from the manufacturer, etc--it's all VERY far fetched and hardly likely...basically bull____.
The people that bid on them, are usually bidding to resale the info just like how they got duped.
Don't do it.
If you'd be willing to buy some speakers out of the back of a van at the mall because the guy is so convincing, then go ahead and pay for the ebay-monitor-link. They're both roughly the same thing, and you get the same feeling in the pit of your gut either way.
If you're wondering about the van scam, look up "white van scam" on Yahoo. Then do some research on the ebay electronics link scam after that. Just be careful.

There are two "deals" going on eBay.
One is information on Matrix sites. Usually, the auction cost is you buying the jokers way into the matrix. So, if his number ever floats to the top of the Matrix, he gets his for free.
How does the matrix work? Depends but usually like this:
You buy into the matrix, either the short side (usually twice as much as the long side) or the short side. Then you wait.
If your list is, say, 20 long. then you have to wait for 20 people before the person at the top of the list gets one. 20 more for the second one, another 20 for the 3rd person.
So, if you are the 10th person on the list you have to wait for 200+ people to buy onto the list before you get yours. Translation, you're gonna be waiting a looooong time.
The other sca..Err..."deal" is wholesale lists. Most of these you can get for a couple of bucks. They are nothing more then a set of eBooks that say they'll show you how to get things wholesale, dealer samples, etc. While they do contain the information they promise, they leave out details.
Usually, to get the nice price, you have to buy anywhere from a pallette to a container full. So you have to pay thousands (sometimes) to get the deal. And then you have much more of the product you want. Oh, and then you have to pay to have it shipped.
As for the free "sample", think of all the people on eBay. Now, even if only 1% of them bought the wholesale kits and then used the information to get a "free sample".
How long do you think it would be before the companies were out of product and business? In otherwords, they don't just hand these out. If you have a storefront, and want one for display, or somesuch, you usually have to prove you are who you say you are, prove you have the store front, secure a merchant account with them and then you get a sample.
All of it is a lot of work, or time, or both, and does not always work. I know people who have been on Matrix lists for more then a year now. What they wanted isn't even current hardware anymore and there isn't, usually, a way to get your cash back.
