Default UPDATE! HELP Manual Transmission Issues!!!

To start off my car is an 06 with 58500 miles. At 15k they replaced the throwout bearing because the clutch would squeak all the time. Then at around 35k it started grinding third when cold. They replaced 3rd 4th and 5th with syncros. Now again my car is in the shop with 3rd grinding when cold. The grinding issue only happens when the car is cold. They think its the same issue with replacing 3rd and 4th gears. Should i demand a new transmission since this is the 3rd issue with it. The weird thing is that all these issues always happen in the winter and fall. The summer its fine.

UPDATE:
Toyota decided to decline the warranty to claim. They said it was either driving habit error or abuse. They said they would replace 3rd and 4th gear. I don't know what to do because its a $1800 bill to fix. Please Help.

my car does this too. there isnt an issue with the tranny as long as its at operating temp. and i know about 20 other tc owners that have this same issue. it's just one of the quirks of the car.

Its a scary quirk when your car is going out of warranty. They have done previous work on my transmission and I dont want to be hit with a large bill for transmission rebuild down the road. When they fixed it last time it didnt happen when cold. This shouldnt be a quirk.

i have a 09 tC and it just rolled 30k miles today and i dont seem to have a problem griding any gears at any temp because when i leave for school in the morning the car is cold from sitting outside in the below freezing and i hit 4th gear before i get to the end of my neighborhood at about 40-45mph and no grinding

i would deff try and get a new tranny because i feel like something is messed up with how the gears are aligning that cant be fixed so itll be a continous problem for you

i know for me when its really cold out,its very hard to get into gears for the first 20 mins, cause the tranny fluid is frozen, but once everything warms up,its fine,i know plenty of scion owners who experience what your saying, you could try aftermarket tranny fluid rather then OEM,which heats up faster and smooth shifting,i even know people with the new tc had some issue also when its cold out,i mean, pretty sure it common for cars, even autos if there not properly warmed up its rough shifting,

Also my car is always in the garage. The coldest it will get is around 50 degrees. I'm going to push for a new transmission because i don't want to deal with this later when its out of warranty.

i know it sucks that our cars dont shift nice when it cold out, best thing you can do is change tranny oil to redline,or eneos,or mutol gear 300,this wil really help that out with smoother shifting....i had the same problem with oem,i know doing so will possibly void the warrenty, but everyone is different,

I rectified this problem (3rd gear grinding when cold) by adjusting the clutch (pushing rod out). Once done make sure to adjust the free play as well with the top bolt. Easy as pie.

It could also be a clutch problem. Once upon a time, I had trouble shifting even with Eneos. As it turns out, the bushing/springs were worn out in the disc. The spring eventually came out and after changing the clutch, I haven't had a problem at all. I'm not saying thats the problem, just something to consider.

How does the clutch pedal feel? Try bleeding your clutch and flushing all the old fluid out. Maybe the Clutch master cylinder / slave cylinder is getting weak, have the dealership change this. Its under warranty anyway. Not saying it will help but the possibility is there.
