its got something to do with your vacuum system, and yes its necessary, otherwise it wouldnt be there, but it doesnt have to be clipped on there, you can push it aside anywhere the cables allow it

 

heres a fun fact;

YOU NEED EVERYTHING UNDER YOUR HOOD.

Ha you don't "NEED" everything under your hood tho I wouldn't go just removing anything under there. There are a few things that provide a comfort like the AC or makes life easier like the windshield wiper fluid but i wouldn't say you "need" them. So yes there are things are the hooded that aren't needed but I recommend keeping it all i don't see the point of removing anything.

That looks like the EVAP Purge VSV. I have no idea why you'd want to remove it, but doing so will definitely cause the CEL to come on (the code would most likely be P0455) and apparently cause rough idling as well.

well you dont need everything. You can get rid of the A/C and ABS. But i dont know what it does but i wouldnt be removing. But thats me.

the whole comment about trying to find a thread about "crap under the hood" that you "don't need"... pretty much leads me to believe that the person does not possess enough knowledge.. nor should he be tinkering around with his car if he can't figure out what is important or not.

there's no problem in asking a question to try and learn about things.. however, his method of asking.. as well as the content of what he was asking.... pretty much is a complete and utter failure.

for a chance to redeem himself, i'll leave this discussion open... and have him tell us exactly what he's trying to achieve by removing what he calls "crap".. under the hood.
