weird door lock thingy
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen with their xD.
It's happened twice with me. Here goes: With keys in the ignition and car running, I got out of the drivers seat and shut the door. Went to the rear passenger's door, opened it, got something out and shut it. Went back around to get back into driver's seat and driver's side front door is locked. Luckily none of the remaining three doors locked, so I was able to get into the car.
Anyone know what's going on? Is this some safety feature that I don't know about????
Thanks!!

Not that I know. I know if you have the keys in the car, and it's running, and you try to lock it with either the button or pushing the lock to the "lock" position, the car automatically unlocks all the doors.
I don't mean to jump in on your question here but I was wondering if the door lock mechanism can be programmed to automatically lock all the doors once you put the car into Drive or after a few seconds of driving? My Sequoia auto locks the doors once the car is moved from the 'Park' position and into 'Drive'. Granted I know that the Scion is meant to be an economy car so many little luxuries are not in place, but I just figured that was more of a safety thing than a luxury.
Thanks for any help,
Jim

no not on our cars but they do come with the standard child safety lock on the rear doors so they can only be opened from the outside. but even if you do lock your doors while you are driving without even touching the button u can pull on the handle and they will unlock so even if it did lock while in drive it wouldnt realy help much
The child safety lock is bypassable too. There's a small slider switch on the inside of the door. I have one door child locked on my 6yr old's side and unlocked on my 13 yr old's side.
No, there is no auto lock, you must be having some issue with it. I'd get it looked at, perhaps a sticky switch or something?
