Engine/tranny revs harder? Lower mpg
When I start my my 2006 xB, it does the 'run-at-higher-rev-to-warm-up-engine', but now instead of calming down, it stays in that mode. The blue temp light goes off, but the engine continues like it's initially warming up.
A recent trip thru the San Antonio hill country -- the steep grades pushed the xB hard. I slowed down, put it in '2', but -- ever since then revs are higher. Normally it's 2000 rpm at 55, now it's around 3k. Not good. Gas mileage is way down, too.
Ideas?

Yeah I would definitely check out that ECU. Sounds to me like the ECU wants to keep the torque converter on around that speed which gives you the higher RPMs. Idk how to reset the ECU but it might be worth it. The ECU learns based on driving habits. It might be causing some problems.
