I am a new Scion owner!: Will a 2008 Xb radio fit into a 2005 Xb? Will the harness work? I am thinking of upgradimg the 2005 Xb's radio to get ipod ready radio and can buy a 2008. I know that I will have to get ipod connectors for radio, but will this unit be bale to be plugged into the car's harness and will the radio dimensions be the same or will I need to buy aftermarket brackets to be able to intall it?

 

you'll need to use the stock brackets, but you will not have the necessary harnesses to hook up the ipod (the connectors and other wiring you typically get are not sufficient)

the car itself needs a harness that you don't have. fitment wise, it'll do fine.

if you're looking for ipod functionality in your '05.. you're much better off looking at aftermarket options.

 

Thanks. I can get the 08 for less than $100.00 without harnesses. I am interested in keeping the dash radio looking like it belongs, rather than making something fit. Any suggestions?

 

a good aftermarket double-din should look fine in the dash, even if you use a dash kit that just fills in the sides of the unit.

i'm fond of the pioneer avic series, but they run a little on the pricier side

if you get the '08 HU, the only thing would be that it'll look better. you won't get any functions gained without the harnesses, and there are harnesses that you need, that you won't be able to find easily.
