Flip door won't open

Flip door won't open
My 2006 xA has a little problem that I can't figure out how to solve.
The plastic flip-up door on the storage box in the lower dash -- below the sound system -- will not open all of a sudden. I have all my gas receipts stored in there.
Anybody have any experience with this? Is there a way to fix it that does not require dismantling the whole dashboard?
Any advice welcome.
