Default Aftermarket radio install...Parking Brake help

I just installed a Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD into my Scion tC2

its really great and everything is working with it...

except now my tC2 doesn't recolonize when the parking brake is up or down! the light stays on in the dash and i even get the indicator beeps

basically....the HU has a light green wire that is suppose to connect to the parking brake line.

this is the best angle i can find of it...

its the light green wire with the red thing at the end

how it works is that the light green wire connects to the red thing and then the parking brake wire lays next to it...there is a silver piece inside where the parking brake wire will lay...the other part of the red thing will fold over and then it is suppose to be crimped together...to make the connection

so what i did was i pulled out the panels of the tC2 by the cupholder/parking brake area. i saw a black wire lead and connect to the parking brake (there was only one wire) so i assumed this was it. i connected it crimped it and put everything away

....now my tC2 can't tell if its up or down!

what should i do? please help. thanks

On all of the late model Pioneers the mint green wire for e-brake needs to be grounded 100% of the time with a catch, when you insert a DVD or switch to an aux video source you will need to momentarily open that ground and then reground it. Best way to do that is with a normally closed push button micro switch. That's what I did and it worked like a charm.

Can't believe you were even trying to connect to the parking brake, what a n00b!

Remove that connection and repair that lead if you damaged it on the parking brake and follow the instructions above to bypass the parking brake lock out.

yea yea...i fixed it...

i basically re-read the instructions for the video brake bypass i also installed....i skipped the part about "install harness brake line to bypass and NOT the actually brake"

...i connected it to both...so yea i just removed the connection to the tc2 line....taped everything up for safety...and everything works

so yea end of discussion. please close
