Ok, I ordered a FM 5spd back in Feb. I opted for the ground effects. They told me it would take extra long for the car because the ground effects had to be installed at the factory. Went to another dealer and was told they installed them at the dealership!!! Original dealer told me they didn't install them at their place because it was "too much drilling and work"!!! How hard can it be and would I notice a difference between "Factory installed" and "dealer installed"?

 

The first dealer was bs'ing you. The only conifguration that comes from the factory is the color and with or without side airbags. Options like spoiler or or ground effects are normally installed at the dealership or even at the port.

 

right... thats what i told the salesman... he agreed the kit was not actually installed at the "factory", but at the port or a dealership...he said he refused to install any ground effects at his dealership because of (1) the amount of work invovled and (2) he tried it once and it came out all wrong and had to be re-done... i talked to another dealer and he found me a FM 5spd in town but had side air bags...wouldn't budge when i told him i didnt want them...gave me some line about" lower insurance rates with them"

 

You will get lower insurance rates, that $650 option for them will be made up over some time with the lower insurance, plus it could potentially save your life!
