ok, so i've done a lot of searching on this forum and others to connect my ipod to my scion stock (single cd/mp3 player) for a clean sound. after trying this or that, found there are really three options:
1) wired fm modulator (wireles is totally out of the question) about 30-40 bucks
2) aux for scion stock (i.e. TOY03-AUX) about 70-80 bucks
3) ipod interface for scion stock (i.e. Neo or ipod2car or dension) about 190-200 bucks
option 1 and 2, will result in rca to mini headphone jack to plug into the ipod, but then you have to figure out what to do with power. but, option 3 has power built in, and all you have to do is plug the bottom dock connector and it charges, powers and plays through the stock radio AND you can control your ipod through the stock cd controls. ironically, option 3 is the easiest install. you have to get to the back of your radio on all of these options, but because option one requires power for the fm mod and ipod and option 2 requires power for the ipod, option 3 only has to connect one wire harness and it's all powered for the interface and the ipod. i guess that's where the money goes.
so, decided to get the Neo from mp3yourcar.com cause this one (and i believe the ipod2car) doesn't lock your ipod down and you can access the controls from the ipod as well as the stock radio. should get it today and gonna install tomorrow ... i'll definitely let you know how the install goes and possibly take some pics (not as much as that camry nav install - props!).
so, here's my question. anyone got this far and have this type of connection? where did you install the ipod? i don't want to keep it in my glove compartment, cause i wanna be able to see the ipod. was thinking about routing the wire in the "oven" (compartment below the a/c controls) and just pulling out the ipod when i want to see it and keeping it in there when i leave the car. but, i'm thinking about getting a ipod mini dock and putting that in my cup holder and install the wire from the interface to the dock. so that i can just pop in the ipod and take it out and slide it in the oven. i got some ideas from tunertricks (http://www.tunertricks.com/blog/gallery/) but just trying to find the BEST place for it. need some creativity here! thoughts?
