any mountain bikers? (inside bike mount)
I gutted my xb (removed rear seats, foam organizer, plastic cubbies etc) and put a wood board over the spare tire depression (relocated spare tire)
so now I have an almost flat rear cab.
Now Im looking for some ideas for mounting and transporting my bike, kinda like one would do with a truck bed (but enclosed of course in an xb)...The most simple and easy thing i can think of would be to bolt a fork mount (yakima blockhead) to a 2x4 and having the bike stand upright that way..
anyone have an interior bike transport system?
I could simply just lay the bike down on its side but Im looking for a more tidy DIY system
hope to hear some cool ideas! thanks

Depending on the height of the bike you could weld a bike tray on brackets straight down the middle. One where the front wheel comes off and weld another tray to hold the front wheel to either side on the bike. This way the unused side can be used for spare parts, a first aid kit, water or whatever you would need for the type of biking your doing. Might have to take off the rear wheel also and get a tray for that one too, don't think the bike would fit in with it on. just a quick thought on the subject.
Just saw this while looking for a roof rack myself

A low tech way would be to use web straps running through the passenger grab bars above the doors. You'll need to do some sewing to form a large loop, with smaller loops for the bike frame (each loop would have a buckle to make it removable). A similar arrangement would be done for the back, using the tie downs behind the seat. As long as tension is applied to the straps, the bikes will stay relatively secure.
