I got this from TRDSparks.com for $907 shipped - an awesome price. I put it on over the course of the weekend in between stuff I had to do. Overall install was very simple. Any do it yourselfer could do this and save themselves the $200-$300 that the local dealer wanted to install it. I think it improves the appearance of the car very well.

Before and after:

And here's what it's gonna look like when I SLAM it

How long did it take you for the install? I have always wanted the kit, but like you I wanted to do everything myself. You have to cut some sort of slots in the front and rear bumper covers, right?

You have to pull the front and rear bumpers, and both of the skirts off. It doesn't take very long to do any of that. I think the biggest pain in the ___ was the plugs on the bottom of the side skirts. It's pretty hard to get those out and you pretty much end up breakin all of the clips. They provide you with new ones with the kit though.

The it's pretty nice and comes with instructions, and everything you need to put it on. You get a lot of new hardware to replace the stuff you've gotta remove since you usually mar those cheap plastic clips when you remove them.

You do have to cut slots in the bumper. It's not too hard though. I just used a Dremel with a drill bit in it and cut sideways like a router. Just put some masking tape on the painted side of the bumper and you'll be fine. All of the holes you have to kit are pre-marked on the inside of the bumper so you know exactly where to do them and what size to make them. The kit overlaps them by about 3-4mm on top so you've got a little bit of room for error. They don't have to be PERFECT but you've gotta come pretty close to doing it right.

I'd say anyone that's fairly confident of working on their own car without breaking stuff should be able to do this with little problems. Overall it took about 4-5 hours to do everything. It would have gone a lot faster if I would have had a lift. :) As it was I layed on some cardboard on the ground.

Thanks for the tips :)

I helped put an OEM kit on an Integra GSR once, and it sounds like this procedure is quite similar. With the Integra, the only parts we had to cut were two holes in the rear bumper cover. The crappy thing is, the holes would be very visible if the rear lip was ever taken off. It sounds like that is the same case with the tC kit.

I'm not sure why, but those after pictures make it look like it's a die-cast, not a real car?????? :ponder: :ponder: :ponder:

Definetly. You have to cut 5 or 6 holes in each bumper - so once the lip kit goes on, there's no turning back. :)

Exactly. Just some Photoshop trickery, nothing more. This is how it looked directly out of the camera:

That was the idea. The background wasn't really interesting or anything so I didn't care if people paid much attention to it. I thought it was a pretty sweet effect. :) It can be attributed more to Photoshop than the camera itself though. I don't have a lens long enough to generate an effect like that on the camera itself. My 300mmm telephoto will do something similar, but I would have had to stand like 50 feet away at 300mm to achieve the same effect. :)

hey you guys are talkin about just havin the front lip on ... i have just the front lip .. yeah it comes primered .. they dont offer pieces painted .. only the full kit .. i figured it might be a little cheaper gettin the pieces and painting them and gettin them installed ... i think its like a couple hundred cheaper (if i had the fully painted kit installed at a place - no self install) ... but i think it all depends on what you have done ... this my car with just the front lip

Looks nice...how much was it to paint? I'm just thinking FM would be a bit hard to match with all the little sparkles and all....

check out my Car Domain page ... http://www.cardomain.com/id/daggerslade ... i paid 100 dollars to get it painted and installed ... and it was 80 dollars for the can of paint ... so $180 altogether .. it was done at Russell's Metal Fab/Autobody in Pelham NH (i work next to him) the guy used only 4 ounces of paint to do the front lip .. so im gonna have him do the rest .. since i already bought the paint .. and about the color .. it is a perfect match .. i dont see why FM should be a huge hassle .. but im not speaking from experience ... my color looks sweet .. im gonna get him to do a small custom paint job on the CF hood i wanna get ... do the sides below the crests ... in body color (since i have the paint) .. :)

That's a damn good price to get the whole thing painted. The body shop around here wanted $700 to paint the whole kit (including paint and labor). Getting shat painted usually isn't cheap. :( Sucks.
