According to Toyota and Optomize Scion the Video Input Harness is obsolete and no longer being made.

I tried to locate a wiring diagram to the harness or a pin diagram to the Alpine unit so I can make the cable myself. I contacted Toyota for a pin diagram for the Alpine but no response yet.

Has anyone come across a pin diagram for the back of the Alpine unit or a wiring diagram for the harness?

Unfortunately that is not it. The harness actually plugs into the Alpine HU and it is a 2 piece harness. 1 has the rca-audio and composite video input to watch video, and anything the iphone can put out i.e. navigation / netflix etc. The other harness allows for backup camera functionality and it is the e-brake connection and reverse trigger (that can be hacked) that allows the input video to be played.

I am just baffled that the HU is advertised in a 2011 model to have optional video input functionality but the harness needed is no longer made.

I will be contacting Scion today to see what that have to say

Time for update:

So I contacted Scion on 09/21 expressing concern that they offer the Alpine unit however I can not get the harness that allows video input. The reply was that is not a Scion / Toyota harness but an Alpine harness.

I told them my decision in upgrading to the Alpine was because of the feature of video input. I also told them that if I knew the part was no longer being made why did the dealership mention it as a selling point. If I knew it was no longer being made I would have opted for the SNS200. I asked who I needed to speak with to get a full refund on the Alpine unit.

They gave me the customer service manager name. I expressed to her my above conversation with Scion. Funny I got a call from parts that same day saying they located a dealership in AZ with the cable. I told them go ahead and order it and today i got the cable :rolling:

Maybe my call to Scion had something to do with it maybe not, but I finally got the cable

To charge 2k for a headunit requiring an adapter for rear camera and video these days is robbery. These features are standard on 500-600 dollar HUs

^ Its standard on the Alpine, is just you need the harness to ground the connection and input the reverse signal (or hack the pins without the harness)
