buying a rebuilt 09 tc, need advice please
I just found a rebuilt scion tc. It has 26k miles on it, automatic. The owner of the vehicle wants 9900. The rims are new but needs new tires and tpms sensors. Everything looks great except a few scuff marks and the front bumper sticks out a little from the hood. I am taking it for a test drive tomorrow and bringing it to a mechanic. I dont really know what an 09 scion tc that has been wrecked and rebuilt is really worth.
There is Salvage Titles and there is Rebuilt Titles
A Rebuilt Title is worse than a Salvage Title
A Rebuilt Title is a branded titled placed upon a Rebuilt or Reconstructed of the vehicle
I work at an MVD/DMV whatever you want to call it

According to NADA and Kelley and Edmunds, the average salvage rebuild is worth no more than a car in poor condition ever. This is the loss in value for rebuilding.
Now, if th shop is specially certified and internationally renown and does the work on classics and true luxury etc, (read Rolls, Bentley, Farrari etc) then that may be a different story.
No matter what rebuilding without a certified structural engineer and certified welders etc means that it was a hack job, PERIOD. If you cant find out that all processes were certified and that all frame and welding work was not done under a structural engineer with certified welders and NDT testing etc, then FORGET IT. You oculd be committing suicide by cheapness.

The ones to watch for are salt water damage. There is no safe way to repair them because of todays electronic systems. The entire harnes system would need be replaced and pretty much everything electrical. light sockets etc.
