Question +25 offset 15x7 wheels and handling

After reading up on some alignment information, such as scrub radius and alike, I've come to conclusion that I've gotten even more confused with wheels offset delema.
Some time ago I had 17x7 inch rims with +40 offset and some 205/45 tires. I remember my xA suffered form bad straight line tracking.
Besides, the ride was so harsh, my wife kept asking if I could put stock tires/wheels back on it.
As far as I understood, the handling will change because said srub radius will change from negatinve to "0" or even positive, depending how much of it built in into stock xA front suspension.
So, my question is to gurus of suspension stuff! Or maybe to some of you who experienced +25 offset on 15 inch rims.
How much bad handling +25 offset will introduce?
Has anyone with 15 inch rims with +25 offset noticed bad straight line tracking?

Thanks in advance to all...
Kilo...
